50/50 + tin, air cooled 11-13 BHN, Round HP pin, sized .358..

Springfield XDm 3.8", or any 9mm, including carbines.
    Cast as above
Using Lee S&W 38 PTE plug (SE1699) to keep 9mm brass fat.
    5.05gr WAP (Ramshot Silhouette), OAL = 1.110.
    Chrono's at 1040fps

    38spl revolvers
same cast and size as above.
    4.7gr W231, OAL = 1.510
    Chrono's at 885fps

    357 mag, 3" SS J-Frame
Same cast as above, but added PB G/C.
    15.4gr A4100 (Ramshot Enforcer), OAL = 1.640
    Chrono's at 1512fps

    357 mag, 3" SS J-Frame
Same cast as above, no G/C
    5.7gr w231, OAL 1.640,
    no Chrono data yet.

All above shooting for best group size at 10 yards. Most final results were a ragged hole.

JLamot2020, for 9mm I set the case mouth in the middle of the front driving band. For .38, I crimped just over the front driving band. Hope that helps. LBS
I'm not sure where all the money is that I've "saved" by casting and reloading!

Shot a combat pistol match today with 4.0gr of red dot and this bullet with penta pin. Also did a lobotomy on a ground hog and later skinned her out in search of the slug. Really juiced the brain and skull but couldn't find the pill as it was somewhere further south and I didn't feel like going that far. Did get some wet pack testing in today as well as chrono, chrono says they are going about 1025 fps

This recipe looks like a winner. I'm always looking for Red dot recipes. Gonna try this in my Hi Point Carbine. Thanks Beerd!

The penta version of this mold is my fav for 9mm powder coated over 4.2 grn of 231. Chrono is 1050 out of my 4 inch semi auto pistols and 1250 out of my 995.

Favorite load? In the 9mm, or 38 special , or 357 magnum, or 357 sig?

    It's a versatile bullet.

I see a couple of guys using 4.0 gr of Red Dot. This is probably my favorite 9mm load. Makes powder go a long ways. Clean burning. Good accuracy in all 9mm's I've tried it in.

I know this is an old thread but wondering if there is any new info out there.
Looking specifically for data on a Glock 19 with W231. Thinking starting load would be around 3.6gr up to maybe 4.4gr but wasn't sure about OAL since I can't find much for 135gr hollow point/flat nose. 135gr is about what all of mine weigh from this 359-125 HP mold and I'm using the equivalent of Lyman#2.
    Thanks

I've been using W231 for 30-some years. If I were you, I'd start with that 3.6 grain load and work up slowly from there, being very careful with anything over about 4.1 grains with your 135 grain bullet.

If you find you're needing higher velocity, switch to a slower powder like Unique, AA5, VV 3n37 or N350, Ramshot Silhouette...

I have used a fair few of these loaded with 4.0 WW.231, WSP, OAL 1.10". This is not a barn burner, but my BHP and Sig P-6 both like it. I have yet to try it in my smaller 9 MM's.
