We were doing a bit of preseason warmup shooting this morning. Carol shooting her hiwall and me the 44.
I had the Brooks postell that has been shooting so good, and in getting ready for the arrival of the new slick mould had along a few of those that Kurt had sent out.
Those I loaded with 76 grs of kik 2f compressed to the base of the neck, 060 fiber wad, 44 cal wonder wad and a .030 fiber.
Someoneforgot to put the spotting scopes in (altho he did get the stand) so in lieu of shooting for real groups just shot the steel.
What has me wondering, the recoil of the patche loads was definetly up from the greasers (didn't bring the chrono either) so I'm guessing velocity was up for the patched loads.
All the way from 235-650 yds I could whack the gong with the greaser, not change a thing except one damp patch down the bore load one of the patched rounds and get the resounding whoooooonnggg back from the steel....
So now I'm really curious as to just exactly where the velocity of the patched loads is. And really need to get both those on paper and see about the groups , and difference in real life poi.
