Tell me what I need to change bullet diameter

What item do I need if I want to size my .458-.459 greasers down to
maybe .450 for patching...Will my cheap Lee turrent press work for this
or will I need a big **** press...
One fellow was telling me that someone makes a swage die and you tap the
bullet thru with a small ball peen hammer? I know knowthing about it...

You'll need a couple of the lee bullet size dies, first go about half way, then a second one for your deisired finshed diameter.
But something to think about, you'll have 50$ or so wrapped up in just the size dies, for 95 you can get a base pour mould from Old West, or for 135$ you can get one from BACO.
Long range rules, the rest drool.

Melt all that krap down; get you a decent mould from BACO like Don suggest....or you can just continue to your head against the wall casting pearls before swine!!

I see that you WERE listening to the advice from Dan T.
Like Don said, you could easily put fifty bucks into tools to size your bullets down, AND you would still be stuck with grooved bullets wrapped in paper. You would STILL be looking for a new mould.

Would you be intersted in this deal?
I send you a high quality PP mould which casts at .450" diameter with 20-1 alloy.
If you can't make 'patched to groove' work for you, you send it back to me, unscathed.

If it DOES work for you, you buy the mould for $125.

When you size a bullet down 8 or 9 thousands you put some serious changes to the ogive plus most likely damage the bullet base.
The best thing to do with the bullets is lube them and shoot them but if you size them down that much drill a hole through them the full length and use then for slip sinkers and go cat fishing.

I have used a lot of cast bullets for lake trout fishing.....They work real good.....Guess I will just shoot them as they are. They are very accurate...90 percent of them are Postell style....And I haven't decided yet if I even want to get back into casting bullets...If I did I would have to replace all the **** I had gotten rid of.....I appreciate all your replies.....John
