Reloading Data for Lee Dies...

Need a little help with some data…

I just purchased a big bunch of reloading stuff and I am slowing going through it…

Along with many RCBS and Lyman dies, I got 2 Lee dies…

They are the ones that come with a shell holder and a .5 cc Lee dipper…

BUT, the data sheets for them were not in the containers that hold the dies…

I wonder if anyone on here would have those data sheets for the 9mm Luger and the 40 S&W?...

Maybe copy them or scan them or whatever other technical method would be available to send them to me via e-mail?...

Any help?...

(I did go to the Lee site, but a picture of the data sheet was not available--but the price for one was $1.00--guess they are afraid one might do a copy/paste and save the buck!)

Loading data is not die specific, but cartridge specific!!!
Loading data from a Lyman book will not differ using a Lee dieset.

I thought that wording would cover my request indicating 2 different cartridges...

Yep, any data source would work, but Lee gives the data using the .5 cc dipper...

I just went to the die section and looked at the list of parts included with each set of dies. The data sheet was not visable, but a price was given...

All my dies are Lee. I use the data from Lyman's 49th the vast majority of the time. So far, so good.

On the Lee website there is a chart for all the Lee dippers and common powders.

In your manual find a load you want to use, then look that powder up in the Lee chart and see if the .5cc dipper for that powder is in the safe range, if not try another powder.

The Lee dies instructions/data for the dipper is not as good as having the dipper chart and whole dipper set and manual. Usually the dipper they include only works with oddball powders. This choice is especially poor with their rifle dies in most cases. Also there is always a scale

I have both but they are of little help. The charts do not match the weights shown. They are just an approximate. The powder charges when weighed always tend to be lighter than they actually are listed at. Probably a safety margin for those that use the Lee loaders and don't have a scale.

If the concern/desire is to use the dippers, get Lee's reloading manual.
Lee will also send you the die instructions for any caliber or you can get the instructions from their site.
I have tried to attach the Lee Dipper Capacity Chart.

BCB,,, if yu have a zoom feature you will prolly need it .

Yea, I know I can use any source of reloading data, but those Lee die kits come with data specifically for the cartridge the dies are intended to be used with...

It would list all loads where just the .5 cc dipper (comes with the 9mm and the 40 S&W dies) is used. No weighing or anything. Just dip and place in case and seat boolit...

I just wanted the die sets to be complete with the data sheet they come with...

Guess if I want that, I will need to order one specific for the 9mm and one specific for the 40 S&W...

Different opinions exist concerning the dippers--whatever on that...

I just used a .5cc dipper to charge bullseye into 45 Colt cases using the 45-270-SAA boolit...

Not a problem at all and they shot extremely well out of my Blackawk...

They are just a quick easy way to charge powder--but minimum to moderate charges are probably the best to help override the potential of inaccuracy by dipping powder...

BCB; I use the Lee dippers just as you described for a large segment of my hand gun cartridge reloading. I have built my own dippers using cartridge cases for powder charges that I can't get accurately with the Lee dippers. I like them, period, and use them to the fullest extent possible. Fast and easy with repeatable accuracy, especially with course powders that tend to bridge in powder measures.

Some scrap cases that can be filed down to the perfect size. Some pop-cycle sticks and hotglue, aluminum, or double back tape.

I have a Lee balance beam that I will sell for $15 shipped US.
It was broken when I got it from a dishonest ebay seller but some crazy glue fixed it and it works just fine and I checked it for accuracy.

I did see they sell that item--the data sheets for each die set--at $1.00 per data sheet...

I guess that might be an option...

Parts etc. can be ordered from their website, but the shipping makes it almost "stupid" to want to replace the data sheets!!!...

But still, maybe...

I did a copy/paste with the data…

I suspect the differences are for actual charges if one was weighing them and not using a dipper…

I believe the dipper puts the charge near those actually listed. A bit above or a bit below…

Probably no matter what, if the powder listed is used with the boolit listed, one would be safe—a bit over or a bit under…

I use dippers from time to time, but I never use them if I am loading something at maximum or a tad over—the ol’ scales get put to use then…

BCB, I can scan the 9mm info if you'd like to have it with the die set. It's a 1991 info sheet and it covers very few loads. Many new powders have come along since. BerdanIII provided more information in his post.
