Talking .45 Colt Load Marlin Lever Action

    Hi all:
Just got a new 1894 Marlin in .45 Colt ... Found that 20 grains of WC 820 works well with Lyman 454190 cast from linotype and sized .454..I lube with Jakes lube...

This load is also good for my Blackhawk...

i did the unique load in my gun. its very difficult to find the right load but my lever was bottom of the chart, and .5 gr made it go from great to horrible

Hello: I also load the same bullet over 10 gr Unique for my Blackhawk... Tried this load in my Marlin.. Shoots well at short ranges but at 100 yd not enough power.. Ramsay

true at 100 yards you might as well put your gun in your truck and drive 50 yards closer to it then get out of the truck and shoot again

I use 10 grains of Unique under the 270-SAA and get 1"-2" groups at 100 yards with almost no bullet drop with my 1894.

    I use 13. grains of HS6 under a 45-270-SAA. I get right at 1300 fps and about 1.5" at 100 yards.

I shoot mostly a 290 gr group buy from a few years ago. That bullet with 10.5 gr of #105 surplus is accurate, hits hard, but is pretty easy on the gun.
I bout a 45-70 so I don't shoot real heavy loads in the 45 Colt anymore. The 45-70 is out for a Sunday stroll and still bearing the 45Colt running flat out.

I really like the 24 in barrel on my old style Marlin CB.

24 grains of 4227 under a comercial 255 swc is awesome in my Cowboy Competition. Killed mybiggest deer ever with that load.
