    Need advise for 40 S&W

I just gave my son a Springfield XDM in 40 S&W. What do you all recomend for cast bullet moulds, loads, lead alloys, etc, that function reliably? Your advise and suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks,
    Al

I like the Lee 40-175-TC. I have had good results with Red Dot, Unique, Bullseye, and AA#7. I mostly use the AA#7 because I have a ton of it. My pistol doesn't seem to have a preference when it comes to a powder or bullet combo. It seems to shoot anything I care to feed it. My bullets are cast from straight WW alloy. They are air-cooled and unsized. One thing I would definitely do is get a gauge to check the loaded rounds. We checked some ammo my buddy loaded with my barrel and it fit fine. When I went to test it, it wouldn't chamber without a "forward assist". I've always checked my ammo with that gauge and all of it functions fine.
