Not meaning to offend anyone, but isn't it noteworthy that drug culture terminology has crept into our general usage ie: "score", a term when used as the o.p. did in the drug culture referring to obtaining drugs.

Wonder how that reflects on our society?

Probably somewhat off topic for this thread, but just an observation.

The drug culture must have stolen the term score, it had nothing to do with drugs when I was younger.

I've run about 500 of the m-22 winchester thru my marlin 795. It goes bang. Its not as accurate as the super-x or federal 510 in this rifle, but is certainly adequete for killing cans or hunting. Once in a while the bolt will not stay back after the last shot in the clip, but so what for the price?

Brilliant! Why haven't I thought that before? I like to buy the Remington 525 round "bulk ammo" they sell at the bi-mart's around here. If i remember correctly it usually runs around 15 bucks. I like to really stock up to save myself from the ever so common price markups.

Anyone have some feedback on this round, the Blazer HV 22's?

I've been using Rem, Winchester and Federals, but that price is tempting...

    Thanks,

    Tristan

CCI sells their Blazer line as cheap practice ammo. For that purpose, it's just fine, but remember, there's a reason it's cheap....

I shoot a Lot of CCI Blazer .22LR ammo. Not only is it reliable but is one of the most accurate ammo I have found in my various Target and plinking rifles without going to the More expensive Match grade stuff . It is Way more accurate than Remington Golden or Winchester Wildcat or the Federal stuff .
It shoots tighter groups than the higher cost Mini-mag CCI and stingers too.
I buy it in Bricks when I can find it up here .

I think CCI Blazer is good plinking ammo. Some of my .22 autoloaders are particular about which Federal or Winchester round I use. Winchesters have been the biggest problem feeding. The Federals feed OK but the rounds don't seem to be consistant anymore. One round will have a sharp report and the next will be pop. I have no issues at all with the CCI.

I'm shooting up the Federal and Winchester ammo and stocking up on CCI Blazers.

Nice shooting Jim! I've used Blazer CCI for years. Better than the other name brands. I even used it for sporter rifle. Good stuff. Buy it up.

.............Way back in the -80's I'd gotten a raise at work ($25/week) and didn't mention it to the wife. Each Friday I'd go buy a couple pounds of powder (yes, a COUPLE pounds) or 22 LR ammo or some other gun related something or other. I kept that up for quite some time, and I had a very WIDE assortment of bricks of 22LR ammo. At one time I had over 30K rounds.

In the late 90's I'd bought a BSA Martini target rifle ...............

I was sitting at the bench with a multitude of 50 round boxes of ammo. The rangemaster asked me what I was doing and I said I was checking to see what the rifle liked best. He laughed and said, "Heck, they don't even make half of that stuff anymore!" In the early 2000's I'd discovered that Winchester Dyna-Points worked well in ALL my 22's and in a couple they shot as well as some dedicated target ammo. At the time it was hard to find. Gossip had it that it was a "Brand" that was supposed ot be exclusive to K-Mart. K-Mart hardly ever had any.

One day the rangemaster set down a brick of'em on my bench and said look what I just bought at Walmart. At K-Mart (when they even HAD any) they were $12 somehting a brick. At Walmart (and they were spotty also) they were $9.83/brick. Over time I finally got tired of buying 1 brick here, 3 bricks there, etc, and then not finding any for sometime. I finally bought 2 cases ($98.30 per) at the local Walmart. That was about 2006 or so if memory serves. I have maybe a half a case left.

Right at the beginning of the big ammo-component disappearance I was in the Walmart looking for more Dynapoints (found out they didn't even LIST them as available anymore) and saw some Federal 550 packs at $11.87. I finally was able to get someone to check and they had 2 cases in the back. I said I'd take a case, and the helpfull person brought out the 2 cases. I should have bought both, but I only took the one, and still have to crack it. I still have bricks dated from the early 90's, and yes some they don't make anymore I just went out and checked and I've got a couple bricks each of PMC Zappers and Sidewinders dated 9-88! That was 23 years ago and they were $11.49 then, which isn't THAT cheap. Dyna-Points now sell for $27/brick.

The thing is something the gun writter Dean Grennell wrote many years ago in one of his early ABC'S Of Reloading. He remarked how during WW2 civilian ammo and components were totally unavailable. He also said that 22 ammo was fairly inexpensive, and push come to shove it ALWAYS made good trading stock. All you have to be able to do is to turn some of it loose

When I got my little Cricket rifle set up, I tried several diiferent brands. The Aguila SE 38 HPs did really well. Since then, I have discovered that the Blazer 40 gr. solids are just as good. I don't buy the mexican made stuff anymore, I 'Buy American'. Besides, the Blazer stuff is a lot easier to find.

You guys in the States shure have cheap ammo. When a good mate of mine, lost his battle with cancer 7yrs ago. I purchase all his ammo from his widow, at market price, Remington bulk packs were $22.00 Au then, still have around 8 boxes of that left.

I miss the $9.99 500 bricks and buy-1-get-1-free sales. Used to get 1000 rounds for $10 every month.

I think that the last time I bought .22LR bricks, they were around $8-9 each. Ever since I got into reloading, I just don't shoot the .22s much anymore. Not counting brass (which I usually come away from the range with more than I started anyway), I can reload 9mm for about $1.954 per 50 or $19.54 per 500. So, .22LRs are cheaper, but not by that much.

Actually, shooting 9mm is cheaper than .22s since with .22s, I'm not reloading them, so I'm more likely to burn through 500 in an afternoon of shooting. Since I have to spend time reloading the 9mm rounds, I probably don't shoot as many in one afternoon.
