I uploaded a pic of a BMG round loaded with an 833gr CBE 512975 cast bullet. It is shown beside a loaded 30-06 and a loaded 5.56x45. The CBE bullet is very similar to the bullet offered in this buy. Post #7shows 2 pics of a round in my BMG and post #10 shows pics of the CBE mold and bullets.

Thanks guys, my gas checks (gator 512L) came in today as well! I'm taking my time with my brass prep - I'm carefully going through each shell and making sure there isn't anything wrong with them.

Also about to buy a case gauge. I got lucky and there's a guy right up the road from me (15 miles?) that sells - JUST - 50 BMG brass, once fired, at a really good price ($.54 each.) I just drive up there and pick it up. (Then get a BBQ sandwich on the way back!) So far it's been going through the Lee press fairly well with very few issues (though I made sure to read up on all the tricks.) I've had a few that weren't cooperative so I've given those away as "pen holders" to colleagues and friends. LOL

Im talking with Lathsmith on getting a star sizing die made, but I (he) needs to know the distance of the measurement from the center of the top groove to the center of the bottom groove, that is made when a gas check is installed.

This would make for a die that has 3 rows of holes for the 3 total lube grooves, correct?

If this measurement is around .600 or less then a die for the Star should work.

Lathesmith can make you one up to .513". Go with 3 holes .600" apart total, that should do it.
From the top hole, the next one should be .225" down the hole and the bottom one .375" farther. That will put you in each lube groove.

Read Swede's post "Future Group Buys" in group buy discussions. We need 30 orders to move to the production schedule after July 2012. If we don't have 30 we will continually get pushed back as other buys reach 30. We have 26 orders in this buy now. We need 4 more ASAP. Get off the fence, if that's where you are. I want this mold cut as soon as possible and will use what small influence I may have to get us to 30. Let's go guys! You need this mold. He!!, it's so cool just to look at , you need it for your mantle. People will flock to your house just to see it (maybe that wasn't such a good reason), but there are gazzilions of other reasons. Just buy it cuz I said so.

Ok, so another Noob question: can I use a Pat Marlin 50 Cal Rifle gas check on this mold? Does the mold need to be gas check or plain base? I know Pat is moving and unable to answer right now, so I'm asking the members here. Just want to order the right stuff. Thanks

I don't know the dimensions of Pat Marlns 50cal gas check but Swede posted that Gator Check .512R Long is the one to use. You can get them from Blammer. I have a suspicion that Pat's 50cal checks are for the 500 S&W and that bullet is only .501.
