    I don't even have a .50 BMG any more, and I still have an urge to buy one of these molds.

    So, since I can't get in on the fun, here's some CAL .50 powrn for ya..

    Put me down for a three cavity GC. Also, what is the shank diameter and who makes checks that will fit these?

    TIA,
    Wayne

    I get mine from Larry Blackman?. They are Gator checks. The 50BMG ones come in two lengths. Get the long ones. At least thats what my CBE mold needs. This mold looks to be almost a clone of the CBE mold. Swede should be able to tell us if that is the correct gas check. Someone on this forum sells Gator checks. I'll do a "Gator check " search and see who comes up. Larry is a dentist in Louisiana. When I called, his dental receptionist answered. That's the way it's supposed to be and she took my order. Larry had two orders to ship that day and he put them into the wrong boxes. A guy in Lacrosse, WI got mine and I got his. Larry sent us each 5 bucks and the guy and I swapped flat rate boxes. I hope Swede will chime in with the correct gas check for us. If he doesn't I'll PM him.

    Bob

    PS: My avatar shows the first iteration of my 50BMG. It now has a Magpul PRS and a billet steel single shot lower. A steel buffer tube, a 2lb Jard trigger,a CTK Precision monopod and a Bushnell 6500 2x16x42 scope complete the changes.

    Blammer is the one selling Gator check, but a check of the group buy section shows he doesn't have any 0.512 checks in stock.

    This is the Cast Bullet Engineering (Australia) mold I'm using now. It casts a 833gr linotype bullet.

    I just love good gun porn. Shooting cheap and shooting 50BMG is an oxymoron IMHO. I've got about 1500 virgin ball bullets on hand, but I just love to tinker. I modified the stock on my Windrunner to have an adjustable cheek rest, as well as being able to swap the bipod for an oak fore end that I use off the bench. EDM wanted over $500 for the cheek rest mod, and I couldn't justify blowing that on a change that took me four hours to d

    Very true! Right now I am shooting mine over 190.0 grains of WC872 that I bought for $39/8 lbs..... They had an additional deal that covered hazmat if you bought enough.....

    I cast mine with water dropped WW which I get for free from some friends at the local gas station.... Figure my cost per round is:

    Primer = $.20
    Powder = $.14
    Gas Check = $.03

    For a grand total of roughly $0.37 per round..... Sure takes some of the financial pain out of shooting the beast.....

    I bought 6 jugs of WC872 also. I started with 195gr behind an 833gr linotype bullet. Got 2301fps and groups opened up to around 4in. Your 190gr load may be what I need.

    Mine lubed and gas checked came in around 870 grains (water dropped WW).......

    My ladder actually started at 160 grains and came up in 10 grain increments.... Was getting smoked necks on 170 grains or less which to me indicated that I wasn't getting enough pressure to fully seal the neck.... 180 and 190 loads were much better with the 190 grain load effectively a 1 hole group at 100 yards which unfortunately is the only range currently available to me so can't speak much about the ballistics beyond that.... 1955 fps out of my gun (Bohica 36")....

    Was loaded with fireformed brass, neck sized..... Lars carnauba red lube and sized to .513..... No sign of leading so far.....

    Great plinking boolit......

    A couple of us got together and had a reamer commissioned that approximates the .510 whisper, (.338 Lap cut back to 1.88) Does anyone have an opinion on the suitability of this mold for that application?
