I have just acquired 70-80 lbs of lead shielding. It seems to be pretty much pure soft lead like all the water main/service line lead I get.. Anyone out there know if it has anything else mixed with it?

some water pipe and other extruded leads can have antimony in them [but no tin]
3-5% is the more common alloy's used.
in my experience the older stuff is the soft straight lead.
as you see some of this stuff it's dead soft.
melt it and cast some then check it a week later, you'll know the diff right off.
Cable Sheathing/Shielding is considered by most to be Pure Lead! It is as pure as you are gonna find in the scrap section.
So what would be the most common method of getting this soft lead up to rifle velocity hardness? Mix it with?
Good Stuff, Maynard! (Dobie Gillus)
The lead sheathed cable we had (Utility) was pure lead. Often the paper inside of it was impregnated with insulating (mineral) oil.
I wish I had gathered up a ton of it before I retired.

Magnificent!
The basic flaw with Science is man.
or redryder you could add it to ww's clip on type, and a little tin ,water drop to harden it so 50% ww's 47% lead 3% tin should work great
