Has anyone done business with Steve Wagner ?

He is a gunsmith out of Tyrone PA.
He has quite an extensive website,
but the most recent post seems to be 2008.
    http://www.gswagner.com/

I sent him a CZ-52 firing pin for repair (one of his services)
on 7-1-2011. Over the last few months, I have sent 4 e-mails
and called the phone number twice (no answer) but left a message
    each time...NO RESPONSE to anything.

Has anyone done business with him ?
    Is he alive ?
Is he still in business ?
Is my experience typical of his service ?

I can only assume (and hope) he is real busy and maybe the part of his
service/business he provides repairing CZ52 firing pins is
a very small one and he waits till he has enough pins
and do them all at once. If so, it sure would be nice if
he posted that kind of info on his website,
or actually responded to e-mails and phone messages.

    Let me know your experiences,
    thanks,
    Jon

PS, I made the mistake of sending cash (only $15) instead of a check
which I could monitor my bank activity to see if it got cashed or not.
I'm not too worried about losing $15 and a broken firing pin,
but I would surely like to pass the word on about my experience,
    if that were the case.

How bout sending him a registered letter with signature required and return receipt required to see what happens.

thanks, that is a good idea,
I may have to try that.

you could add a "restricted delivery" endorsement to the letter, that way,no one but he can sign for it.

If there has been no post since 2008, are you sure he is even still alive? Did you contact him before sending the part?
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

Several sources on an all steel machined firing pin so I would order one to get things going.

You may well never see your old one again and all new is still better than repaired old style.

    that's what it appears

are you sure he is even still alive?
    NO, that's why I asked

Did you contact him before sending the part?
I did send an e-mail the morning of 07-01-11,
but since it was only a $15 deal, I desided to just
    send it that afternoon
    thanks for your concern,
    Jon

Luckily, I had an original new "old style" one on hand for use in that particular gun.
The fix by Steve Wagner seems as good or better than a "new style" Steel one for cheaper. But yes, I may just order a couple of "new style" steel ones to have around,
besides the gun my SIL has, I have two other CZ-52s (one in 9mmLuger).

I am pretty sure he is a member here (Cast Boolits) as I remember his bolt modifications (they're unique) and followed a link from his post to the website. I believe this was no longer than a year back.

    Time travel ???

Look what I got in the mail yesterday.

Funny thing, when I first pulled the envelope out of the mail box, I wondered what this was?
While I didn't recognize my handwriting of the address, I did think..."Hey that is a nice Ronald Reagan Stamp, there hasn't been one released like that for several years."
(My Dad was a Postmaster, so I have a thing for stamps, and when a stamp comes out with a certain interest, I tend to buy up quite a few, and use them to personalize correspondence, I no longer have any Reagan stamps, I still have many Charlton Heston stamps.)

When I opened the envelope, and realized someone honest had been setting on this for 8 years (see postmark June 24 2019), it makes me want to know the rest of the story.

Interesting for sure. Took it a while to make it back. Was it repaired or still broken? $15 still there?

Picture didn’t show up earlier. Looks like you got it back as it was sent. Too bad inflation has caused you to lose value of that $15.

Check the rollers while your at it. Fireing pins breaking and rollers wearing seam to be the only 2 weak points on a pistol built like a tank. Love mine.
