    Aging plated parts. Stinky Stinky

I have a plethora of part soaking in Muractic Acid aka. Pool Cleaner to eat off the plating. Next to the rust tank and the Scotch Brite and a lite epoxy coating.
This gives a 100 year old brown feux patina. Log wood dye would make them black.
Anyone want pics just let me know.

Duke: make sure to get that Muratic Acid container completely out of your garage when you are done using it.. In fact it would be a good idea to keep it out of the garage completely.

No matter how well you seal the lid, vapors from that stuff get out and they RUST anything close to the container severly and quickly, and I mean quickly.

Two days after you'll find everything made of steel within 10 feet of the container will have a serious coating of rust growing on it.

The stuff isn't that expensive so it is best to use it and then just get rid of whats left in the jug.

Trying to store the stuff is a complete loser.

Asking if we want pics is like asking a junkie if he wants a fix. OF COURSE WE DO, GET EM UP.

What kind of plating and how well does this work? I have an Argentine Colt Systema 1927 that a previous owner plated.

And like others have said, post pictures.

    Thanks.

Stainless Steel + Hydrochloric acid = Stress Corrosion Cracking = Leaks

Also, don't breath the fumes; makes Hydrochloric Acid in your lungs = bad juju
