    Powder Sticking To Plastic Funnel

Is there a way to eliminate the static cling which makes the smokeless powder stick to the plastic on the lee funnel and other plastic products?
    Thanks, Steve

Grab a can of Static-gard and spray a little on the funnel and wipe it off. Works great for me.

that's funny because for years i have had no problem and just a couple of nites ago it was bad , i tried the used dryer sheet .. no help , so i tried the fresh dryer sheet ..ditto , so i washed it with dawn and dried it , let it set for a few hours and no help .... so i dug out the ancient pacific aluminum one [sigh] i believe it's in the air , today i used a disc sander on some pvc pipe - every granule was electrostatically and evenly deposited on everything - including me . the table on the sander looked fine and white , i think mother nature needs a big can of static guard :P

Wiping with a used dryer sheet (Bounce) should do it. It's recycling a used product, a really GREEN thing to do for some folks.

    Sun Spots.
    It's those dawg-gone Sun Spots.

Or is that a racist thing to say???
    I'm sooo cornfused!

My wife doesn't use dryer sheets.
But back in the vinyl dayz, I used to rinse my albums then dry, and the static was GONE!
An Audiophile friend suggested that, and by golly it worked great!

Low humidity causes static as well. If you could raise the humidity, it would "short out" the static build-up.

Sonnypie has the answer, Boil a Big Pot of Water on the stove to add humidity to the air, then make a pot of spaghetti and you won't go hungry in case you just have to wait it out.

    Yep.

Air conditioners are off, heaters are on... Humidity coming down...

    At least in the Midwest.

Anything you can do to directly gound the machine would help.

    Would smile do?
Or does it have to be all out Joy?

Is there something special in the Joy that helps with the static?
    Curious minds want to know...

(I have two... strike that, 3 plastic funnels that like to get static cling. A red one (Lee), a green one (RCBS), and a larger red one (Walmart? Auto Parts Store? Dumpster Diving?)

Soap. Bath bar soap works fine. Best not to rinse, just let it air dry. Soap is the 'active ingredient' that kills static in dryer sheets too.

Sounds like you have a REAL static problem....somewhere. Theoretically, if you ground the object it should dissipate the charge. I don't know if this will work, but try touching the funnel to something grounded like a cold water pipe then run some powder through it.

    Hey, it's worth a shot...........

Cold Water pipe? Not when they are plastic! (PVC)

Wrap a thin wire on the cover plate screw for a receptical (Plug) and touch the item to it to discharge the static.

    Re: Wash with Joy

Dunno, read in some rag or other that Joy was the deal for static dissipation. Seems to help for me.

Smile Powder Sticking To Plastic Funnel

Wash the funnels with any soap detergent. Do not rinse. Air dry only. This will help the funnels. I taped a piece of dryer sheet to the inside of the powder tube almost the full lenght. Refilling the powder tube. I try to hit the powder on the dryer sheet on the way in. This has worked for me in the past.

A small aluminum funnel for a few $ will permanently eliminate the static issue....
