    RCBS LAMII Modification

    G'day All.
The LAM II is a great lubesizer, But the sliding T handle is a Pain in the rear.
    Here is my modified one.

    Works a treat.

I drilled a 9/32 hole into the top of the rod. Cut off the end of a phillips driver bit. Inserted it into the drilled hole and welded it. Then chucked it in the lathe and turned down the weld so that it would slide through the top cap.

    No more "T" handle....WooHoo....
    Hooroo.
    Regards, Trevor.

Looks fine but someone, I believe on this forum, showed me to cut a slot in the proper sized 1/4" drive socket so you can just slip that on and secure it with a bolt. That way nothing is changed IF you want to go back to the sliding T. Metal grinder cut that slot in a few seconds. That works fine for me.

    That sliding T handle sucks.

While using mine one day one of the little black plastic balls broke off and my wrist slid across the exposed end of steel cutting it very nicley.

I sold it and went exclusivley to the earlier LAMs that use the Chapman ratchett.

    Good mod. And needed too.

You might want to check this thread:

Several different approaches to converting from the original T handle to the use of a Lyman ratchet wrench.
