Primitive! I enjoy a different primitive.. Several states have opened big game hunting with Atlatl and darts, a 12,000 year old tradition in America. I am a flint knapper and make my own points, darts and Atlatls also. My state is considering a proficiency test for atlatl hunters to hunt deer.
    Some of my atlatl gear:

Nope. Missed twice. I refuse to shoot more than 25 yards. I would be sick if I lost one. We hunt in a beautiful place which is an award in itself. We have our own 3 point or better rule. If it was about killing I'd go back to rifle hunting. Lol. Hunting the desert with a recurve is hard. We have had a lot of compound hunters come for a year and never come back. Which is fine w us. Traditional guys are pretty good people.

    Good Job!!

I have only killed one doe and one small buck with a compound and have only rarely shot a recurve. It is a lot more gratifying than a rifle shot. Congradulations!!
I came into this world kicking, screaming, and covered in someone elses blood. I plan to go out the same way.

Congrats! That's quite an accomplishment! It took me 7 years of trying to kill my first antelope with a bow via spot and stalk. My best friend killed his first traditional archery antelope this year, after several years of trying.
The real trophy from a hunt is the memory of the effort involved in the pursuit.
I'll be a nice to you as you'll let me be, or as mean as you make me be.

Wow Dan! that is awesome. It is hard enough to kill a wiley old buck! Spot and stalk on something with the eyes Zeiss is jelous of is amazing. I would like to hear some of your secrets sometime! I am thinking about taking my daughter on a wyoming hunt some day also.

Awesome accomplishment! Never taken a Buck with a bow (yet), but perhaps someday. Finally cooled down enough here in KY to actually go bow hunting. Taken lots of nice deer with handgun, blackpowder, and centerfire rifles around here, and now have a dedicated stand for archery on a friend's farm, so maybe this year will be different.
Hope to hunt Muleys one day before its neccessary to pack me out on your two-wheeled cart on top of the Buck.
Well Done, Sir, and thank you for sharing.

Now that is something to be proud of. Sometimes it takes years to acquire the knowledge to perfect your hunting skills. Don't forget to pass it on before your gone.

Onondaga!, nice stick, Do you happen to have a handle at paleo planet ?, I snagged a piece of Osage Orange my last trip to visit family in Tn and brought it home here to Ak and have been slowly working it down into an atlatl, I checked into it here and though there are no special seasons that you qualify for you are legal to hunt with them up here.
