In researching the marks yall have posted for my pewter documentation I found the following sites:

    www.thestieffcompany.com

British Pewter Marks of the 20th Century

The second brings up a .pdf file. Just wanted to mention that considering the recent security problems reported concerning Adobe .pdf files. I did download it and my antivirus didn't report any issues.

I'd say it was pewter based on your pic of the hallmark that looks just like this one found on Danish Pewter Hallmarks.

The form is wrong, but the hallmark is right. I'd take a chance on it.

    A few more pieces...
    A 14X9 inch tray at 1 pound 7.7 ounces:

    A 6.25 inch plate at 6.9 ounces (it's eyetalian ):

And some neat stuff from Norway which apparently has a rich tradition of pewterware. A 4.5 inch goblet at 8.8 ounces, a 4.25 inch cup at 5 ounces and a 3.76 inch trinket dish at 3.8 ounces:

I also picked up a bunch of creamers and sugars. Same old stuff, but a few new hallmarks for the collection:

Looks like you have to be careful with salt shakers too. Some are glass lined. These are a healthy 6.8 ounces before. After... "not much." A new hallmark though.

I haven't seen one live, but it was on the old "Tankards and Flagons" site. Shirley Pewter, Williamsburg, Virginia. Founded in 1955 by Shirley Robertson. You have the real deal.

    I picked up a tray that was 15" x 22" and weighed 8lbs 7.5ozs. The hallmark was triangular in shape. Said;
    T.K.F.
    Handmade
    Indonesia

Sorry the camera doesn't take very good pictures.

Nice! You have to be careful with trays too. The ones that are one solid piece are great heavy finds, but the ones that are two piece construction with a bottom and edging... The edging is pewter, but the bottom is some other sheetmetal.

The tray is 1/4" thick and still had the handling dents you commonly see in pieces that are well used. Stick it in the frig with about 3-4 dozen oysters on the half shell and it's party time.

In direct contrast to jsizemore's massive tray, I picked up a half a dozen of these 4 inch bread plates. Two different hallmarks on them and they vary between 3.0 and 3.7 ounces.

Never heard of it. Anything called "xxx-ware" would give me pause. But, if the form is right (thin sections with reenforced edges, soldered handles, no mold lines) I might give it a chance. Melt it separately, or bring some known alloy just to melting point and place a small piece on the surface to see if it melts.

Thanks, I'll try to post a few pics just in case its not the real thing, others might be spared the hassle.

I tried to melt it with a propane torch and didn't have much luck. It did turn red but that was it.

What about this plate? Its supposed to weigh 2.2lbs. I can't get the pic to show any size. On the back of the plate it says International Pewter. Any idea?

This is the same plate on auction; http://www.ebay.com/itm/EUC-We-Are-O...item2331f9efad
