I can't tell for sure, but the emblem looks riveted or brazed on, and the peltro mark looks cast in. The US and Northern European pewter I have doesn't have such large or raised decoration, and the touch marks are stamped into the metal. The color looks about right, though. I'd expect the metal to be fairly thin and bendable.
I didn't see much pewter the one time I was in Italy, but I did see crudely made stuff (your tankard seems of better construction) marked "peltro" in flea markets for the tourist trade that seemed to be made of mystery metal or lead.
This thing weighs 2 pounds and seems rather thick. I did bend the lid with my hand with some effort.
Does it mark easily? How is the handle attached?
I think it's the real deal. It scratches with a finger nail and the handle looks soldered.
I have some other stuff that is from Holland and looks a little yellow.

Sounds promising! To be extra cautious, you could do what has been suggested in this thread and to me personally by the forum's "pewter pros": melt the known stuff together, keep the pot temp around the liquidus temp for pewter, and only then add any suspect pieces, being ready to pull them out if they don't melt in short order.
ETA: your Cadillac link led me on a wiki walk. Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, an early French explorer, not only founded Detroit and had the car named after him two hundred years later, he opened the first lead mine in Missouri in the early 1700s, which looks to me to be the same lode as mined by Doe Run.

Catalog price for a similar platter and the vase are over $200 each.

Got this old thing, looks to be pewter. The lid melted at around 400.
Gotta say, guv, you find some weird stuff.

My girlfriend bought me a English pewter tankard with a glass bottom in 1979. It started leaking beer a few hard years later so became a piggy bank. The other day I found it and melted the handle in a full pot of fishing sinkers. The boolits are beautifully filled out and quite hard. They dropped 11 grs lighter than my 50/50 coww/pb alloy I normally use.(Lee 379 250 fp).

I found a very big 5.5 lb bowl marked Kirk Steiff Pewter...I got it for $16. comes out to $2.90 per lb.
According to their website...its 92% Tin, 6% Antimony and 2% Copper
