    Too much mood

Got to mulling around the man cave and decided to check all my loaded 45acp ammo I have with my cartridge gage.

Well of 300 rounds 200 won't fit in the cartridge gage. The gage is min SAAMI spec for that cartridge, but that doesn't mean it won't fit in my gun.

So I have 100 rds that SHOULD work flawlessly, and 200rnds that have 'drill's' built in.

So then I started thinking "hmm what ammo do I have loaded for deer?" Well that sent me into a "hmm, what gun do I want to use this year?"

    So....

35 Whelen seemed to come out as top choice because I've only blooded it with Ground hog chunks.

Then I started nosing around my 35 cal boolit shelf and rummaging through all the cast boolits there to see what may be suitable for the Whelen.

I collected a few hands full of different boolits and then proceeded to find my brass... one thing led to another..

Next thing I know I've got 5 diff calibers tossed bout the place, brass and boolits everywhere and no plan.

I'll have to make some room so I can get some ammo loaded and see about sizing/lubing some more boolits and then loading them.

Well, back in the saddle again...

Yup, the Summer Doldrums do that to you, I can't tell you how many times I've gone into my reloading area, drug out a rifle, made an impact slug of the chamber, and spent the rest of the day dragging out stuff to check fit and making dummy rounds, quit in mid-thought, drug out another gun, fiddled with some boolits, looked at my presses, drug out a few dies, etc. until I had a royal-arsed mess, then threw up my hands and went back to my favorite time-suck (bet you know what that is!)

Do yourself a big favour Blammer, get rid of that .35 Whelen mate!

Then get yourself a 9.3x62mm, its a better cartridge and shoots nice with cast.

I will try and convert you US blokes to metric!

    Mike
