Mihec 454640 Cramer -Time to get this going!

Okay, I know that there has been some interest in getting a 454640 mould for a while. I was going to Honcho one of these earlier this year but there was supposed to be a wedding and lots of moving and yada, yada, yada. Well, none of that happened, so, I have some disposable cash and want to get a new mould!

This will be designed just like the 434640. RNFP solid, 2 sets of pins, large cavernous round pins and the Miha trademark "Pentapins".
Medium pins are going to be available too. Size will be midway between the size of the 434640 and the RCBS 45-270SAA Clone. Miha will have to do the math!


Personally, I would like to have this be a 2 cavity, brass mould but it could be a 4 cavity if that is the consensus of the Group!

Since times are hard for most of us, the two cavity will be a bit cheaper and still give you the bullet you want.

I have posted some results with the 434640 and to be honest, I have really impressed with it's accuracy and devastating terminal performance. Not sure what the weight will be but, for the 45 Colt, I'm thinking somewhere around the 320gr in solid form and 280gr is in round HP form.

Come on folks, you know you want one for that carbine/pistol combination. Maybe you have a Ruger 45 Colt like I do that NEEDS a bullet like this! My Puma rifle told me yesterday just how much it would like to have one of these ran through it.

Very well sir! That "640" design is tops in my book! I like the Keith's, or SWC, don't get me wrong, but for longer distance, carbine type shooting/hunting, I think the coefficient of this boolit is better!

I'm definitley in for the 320gr solid. Especially if it can be a gas check. 4 or 2 cavity mold is fine for me.

Not sure just what is available on this mould yet. It will al depend on what Miha can produce. I know he has done gas check versions before. Possibly an option!

Okay, I have gotten "THE WORD" from the Master Mould Maker!

4 cav. brass HP 120$ plus 20$ shipping (plus 16$ extra pins)

All we need is the drawing from 45 2.1 so we can know the weight, then, 15 moulds later, we will have delivery!

I am pretty sure that Bruce based the BRP 454640 mold on the 45 2.1 design !

I would like a 4-cavity GC with all of the pins for my H&R .45 Colt carbine.

I would suggest you open the Group Buy right away ! This will fly in just a few days !

How about an option for a smaller round pin for higher velocity and flat pins for a solid.

I would agree with Mr. Freeman that a smaller diameter round pin option would be VERY good idea !

All pins are reversible for making a flat point. The idea of this mould is to have the larger pins. They perform well in the 44Mag @ 1800fps and I would like to keep that.

Maybe we could ask if there could be an option for a smaller pin. I'll ask!

this is on the omnibus poll for miha does that mean he already has the cherry cut ? If so could make things a lot easier . I would prefer a 260-270 grain H.P. but could live with a 250 . i would prefer a P.B. in either 2 or 4 cavity . VERY good that the smaller pins will be an option !
I have a single cavity BRP HP version and it is a great bullet design at is original weight!
It may be a little lighter than some want though unless 45 2.1 modifies the original !

The smaller pins, ones in between the huge ones of the 434640 and the RCBS 45-270SAA Clone is where I asked Miha to figure them. Honestly, the one for the 45-270SAA are about worthless for a HP. The Penta pins are much better.

I am learning something too, your (read my) good idea may not be shared by everyone!

The original design is fine BUT, something around a 250gr HP would be great. I want to retain the deep grease groove and equally sized rear driving band. Maybe a bit more nose? Have to stay under the "Ruger sized" cylinder length with a loaded round.

Let's just do an as is designed for now, see how many folks get on board and then see if there needs to be some modifications. What do you say?

If I can get the original design, no problem! Get the thing on the mill and get it in our hands; that's the goal!

Same design as shown in post #9 as produced by BRP. Its a good shooter.... the bigger the HP, the better in this caliber as there are quite a few old wheel guns in this caliber.
