    High Prices for Tin

I've been checking out the prices for bar or wire lead free solder. Cheapest I've found is still over $20 per pound. I've got about 200 lbs of lead sheeting, plumbing pipe and stick on WW which I believe is close to pure lead. To make a 20 to 1 alloy will cost over $200 just for the tin. I know you pay to play but are there any other sources for tin that may be cheaper?

You don't have to have 4% tin for most applications.

Also you could consider trading your soft lead for wheel weight ingots.

Tin is great but it's expensive to use as an alloy hardener by itself.

I have removed this offer, and moved it to the Swapping and Sellin site. I have also dropped the price, and added swapping options.

The story is the same at the local shops in my area.

Last tin I bought about 6 mo ago was 1 lb rolls of pure tin solder for about $14/lb - IIRC. Jumped on three lbs. I have been seeing it for $22++ for pure around here. Why I jumped on the $14/lb.

We definately have inflation. All metals have basically doubled or tripled in the past 2 years.
Actually its dollar devaluation run rampant and the guberment still denies it. Been to the grocery store lately? Sheeesh!!
