    Hot loads-No gas checks?

I'm new to this casting thing and need some input. I'm getting into shooting silhouette. The cals I'm shooting are 7TCU, 357max, 44mag, and 30-30. Lets talk about the 44 specifically. A friend is casting an RCBS 240 gc bullet that is I am pushing past 1500fps. I want to be more self sufficient and can't seem to find the patience to wait for the right gc mold to come along. How important is the sizing w/out a gascheck? Now what kind of recipe do I need to do something similiar with a non gc bullet. Is it possible? I have tin, pure,WW,range scrap and lino. I just need guidance. And the non magnum cals, any difference?

Thanks for any and all input

Lube is probably going to be an issue as well.

I shot silhouette in the 70's with a Ruger SBH and the 429421 Lyman Keith bullet averaging right at 30. Knowing what I do now about sizing to throats I'm sure I would have picked up 2 or 3 targets to that average. That load was simply 25/296/429421 ww+2% tin lubed with NRA 50/50 lube. I don't think that would be competitive at the upper levels today but certainly nothing to be ashamed of.
