Best bullet for the Garand 30-06

    Hello guys,

Just acquired a Garand in 30-06. What would be the best cast bullet for it?

I already shoot cast bullet in my Lee Enfields and Mausers
i'm sizing my bullets to .311 for my enfields and .323 for my Mausers.

what size should be the bullets for the Garrand? Should I buy a new mold in .309 ?
    should I buy a sizer in .309?

    thanks

.311 will also work very well in the '06. What moulds are you using for the SMLE's? Might be fine in the Garand also.

Love what you got first if my motto. I would try out some of those 311's.

In my garands I shoot a 200 grain bullet over 36 grains of Varget, or over 42 grains of H4831. I add .5 gr of polyfill and get just as good accuracy as I ever see with CMP greek surplus.

The two Garands I have tried like the NOE 311-165 RD over 37.0 grains IMR4831. I also use .5 grains Dacron and get perfect functioning. Haven't compared accuracy with surplus ammo, but it is more accurate than I can hold.

Depends on how worn the throat is. That very bullet worked very well in the last M1 I had. I used it over 30 gr of 4895 with a 3/4 gr dacron filler.

Size one .311 and load a dummy round and see if it chambers ok. If it does give it a whorl.

    311299 with 41.5 IMR 4831
    311284 with 33 Varget

Both with filler sized to .310.

    Shoots so smooth.

311299 or 314299 sized to .310, over 32 gr of any flavor of 4895 and dacron fluff. Just cycles the action, dumps the brass within a foot or two, a bit more accurate than M2 ball.

Can't remember the exact load, but 311284 shot well over a minimal charge of 3031. Functioned well, and shot under 3" at 100. Sized .311----Do remember that.
