    Winchester M70 Post 64 Extractor?

I need to replace the extractor on a M70 in 30-06, but have not been able to locate a place that sells extractors for the Post 64 style rifles.

Try Numrich. If they don't have it, then call Browning/Winchester customer service. Have your serial number/model # ready.

No, the extractor is held in by a detent pin.. and the assembly holds a captured coil spring internally.

Changing one is relatively easy. The only thing to watch for is to be sure to get the right one for the family of case head (radius) sizes- in this case, the 06 family, the most common size.

Not sure what you mean, all I know is they are very easy to remove with just a bent paper clip to hold down a spring-loaded pin.

Thanks just ordered an extractor from Numrich. I assume it is a standard sized extractor that fits a 30-06 caliber?

I have the same problem with my Model 70 in .30-06, but am having problems finding out what the right extractor is. Did you establish whether it was a standard or a magnum extractor for the .30-06? Part number you got from Numrich would be a massive help.

    Any assistance much appreciated.

Yes it was a standard extractor. Been way to long to remember the part number.

Awesome thanks for the help. Got an extra one just in case as well. Man they're hard to find down here in New Zealand.

Yeah now that I am thinking about it I ordered one but it was broken. They sent me a second one free but it is not a bad idea ordering two.
