    I'm tryin!

But my eyes just need help.
I can shoot pretty good with a dot but the sights are getting even blurrier.
    I'm ALL over the place.
And they ain't gettin any better so I'm slowly coming to grips with my
    age

Weaver makes flat scope bases - the #61, IIRC, and they make specific bases for various flat receivers. All would require drilling and tapping. I'd check with Brownells.

Don't know about the flattops, but Leupold makes a base for the new models. Give em a call. If nothing else you will let them know there some out there wantin one.

No drilling - I'll struggle with my eyes before I go hacking on it.

As I age I find that the shorter barrels 4 5/8 let me get a clearer sight picture.

I believe weaver makes one that replaces the rear sight is easy to put on and take off and doesn't mar the gun and is not to spendy. Like I said I believe it will fit a flat top not a hundred percent sure

I tried that peep out and I actually shot worse - Just put my original back in
    yesterday.
I have a couple of those Weaver bases in the basement waiting to get fitted
to their new home I'll see what kind of jerry riggin it'll take.
What p*sses me off is all the years of good eyes I wasted looking through
my 36x scopes - I guess it wasn't a waste but should have done it in the other
    order

Try a little aperture on your glasses. Merritt makes a stick on or just use a piece of masking type tape with a small hole in it 1/16 in. or so. Your sights will look like your a kid again. It works. Glen

    Wide rear notch.

Few weeks ago a fellow showed me his Springfield 1911 with old man sights. Rear notch was wider than normal. Was surprised that I could focus them. They were an of the shelf option.
