My last personal project. I needed a new winter beater.
    81 diesel rabbit
Now has 1.6l turbo diesel which would have been a rare option in 83-84. It's about as correct as possible in the engine bay. Also has disc brakes all around as taken from a 16v scirocco. My first paint in the bay and fenders.
16 days after paint it was on the road. Rebuilt trans myself also. And the front nose is now a first generation Jetta with European lights.
Yeah paint don't match but it was $150gal with hardener.
    Car was free.
Entire drive line is new or rebuilt with only $420 spent on parts. I have too many parts in the stash.
    Paint supplies were another $750
Not bad for basically a New car. But it don't have a cupholder.

In 1999, my wife wanted a truck, she bought a Great Dane,,
she hated the ride of the 1/2 ton, we ended up with a "snow plow package" Silverado 2500

Well, I decided I wanted a new truck in 2018, I went to buy a "white service truck",,,

I all but signed the papers on this one,,

Then, just before I agreed to buy, another salesman said "Did you show him the Alaskan?"

Well, we went and looked at it,, it was a no brainer,, the Alaskan was another "snow plow package " truck,,,

The Alaskan came with dozens of extras, tires, wheels, step, spray in bed liner, skid plates,,
and , later I found out it is equipped with the 3500, "ton" front end,,

    The truck is a beast,

So, for the exact same money, as the service truck, I ended up with the Alaskan,,

The 1999 has always been a great truck, but, now, it is a "trash run truck"

The color is HOK KBC05 Cobalt blue, clear coat, then polish. Bumpers rechromed and new aftermarket trim where needed. Pearl white top and interior. I mixed the dye lot and colored the carpet to match the non standard car color. Repainted all the old and replacement plastic with custom color as well. A lot of other small details, but it's an attention getter at shows. It's name is Deacon Blues, from the old Steely Dan song.

Here's my 1986 Jeep Wagoneer. Sure, it can't go over 55mph, but it's got all the torque and 4x4 you could want in less than fair weather. It sure is a beaut! Just don't look at the crash test results for models of Jeeps made on the same frame... Or look at the constant dribble of oil from the engine area, or the less than weather sealed interior....

I can certainly say that this is one Luxury Jeep! It's got AC, Power Windows, and by far the fanciest Tape Deck I've seen in a ride! It's got Dolby Noise Reduction, push-button track switching, and even a Chrome Tape mode! It's certainly shown me just how Hi-Fi cassette tapes can get!
