    Iron from the old days

Not sure how I missed this thread all this time. Went to high school and college in the 60's ... in Florida. The land of Sebring and the Daytona 24 Hour. Fell in love with the heavy sporty car iron of the day.

Would never be able to afford the real thing, and frankly in some ways the recreations of today are even better. So I built one:

and have been very slowly working on the second (but may never finish it):

    Love the sound!

My everyday, take a lickin' and keep on tickin', like a rock ride!

This was the latest photo I had handy, taken November '10. All damage was confined to grille and bumper and has been repaired to like new. 1995 Chevy S-10, 2.2L w/5 speed. Bought new in Feb. '95. Currently has 341,000 miles on original engine and trans. Trans is about to get some work, however.

My better weather (read "warm") ride:

My first new vehicle in 35 years. 2010 Ford Ranger 4X4. The 4 wheel drive comes in handy in North Dakota.

No picture on this computer, but my to be restored ride is an 88 M5 BMW. At the time advertised as the fastest 4 dr sedan. I have had it since 2001, currently at 209,000 original engine and trans. Parked it when I was driving 125 miles a day and wanted the comfort of my 2005 GMC Sierra which is at 173,000 miles. Would love to find my 76 Cutlass Supreme Brougham w/455 and T tops, like a youngster, I sold it, to find out later just how rare that combo was...

    98 Valkyrie

My fat lady...1998 Honda Valkyrie with a few goodies. Nothing like a six cylinder boxer engine for power at any RPM.

And my 1990 Bayliner Cobra...Bayliner's stab at dual console bass boats. I love her, she runs like a bat out of hell, and nobody knows what she is. Kind of reminds me of the Valk.

Betcha most of you haven't seen one of these in 20 years. For some others, not at all.

The car that finished off Bob Lutz's career with Ford before he went to GM.

And then my little crown jewel I run maybe once a year.

If the parts to keep it going weren't so damned expensive, I'd go out more often. That and the BS emissions issue.

Here's a SkillsUSA project we just finished. We got 99 out of 100 on our score. We frenched tailights, license plate box, and did a ton of welding and fabrication on it. We also fabricated a dash for it.

It is a 2/3 scale high boy, on a lawn tractor chassis, that was started by someone else. It was a great idea, but it was not even close to be finished out.

Not too shabby for a bunch of high school kids.
