Just finalized intial order for custom 22 cal reamers necessary for both a 6s and 9s ogive. Cost a pretty penny but hopefully it will all work to perfection. Was quoted 1-2 week wait from manufacture.

Seems like it has been a long time in R&D for me on this one. This is the smallest reamer I have ordered, probably most dificult for this shop to make. If all goes well and quality looks good I will allmost immediately and most likely order severial more reamers probably starting with 243 and 264 as well as another 30 cal in VLD, not to mention severial large rifle and pistol reamers, the possiblilites are endless!

    SWAGE ON!

I've got my 22's up to 4000 ft/sec out of my 22-250 with no separation. 14 twist in a Rem 700. Not as accurate as at 3300 though.

BT Sniper One Step Dies .40 S&W
I just Received My Order Yesterday! With the up coming holiday Honoring The Presidents that made a difference in this Great Country, I wasn't expecting my Dies until Tuesday or Wednesday, The shipping was really fast. The dies were packaged in a very professional plastic box similar to all my reloading dies. They have the look and feel of High Quality workmanship. (NOTE TO BRIAN: Really need to enclose instructions) (I had done enough research I was ok without instructions) I started off with 50 rounds, The first 10 rounds I found the point I liked, 20 rounds I made with that point, They all looked the same, I checked them with the calipers they were all the exact same size( .40087...) They all weighted within 1.5 g 182.5 to 184.0. The next 20 rounds I tried different case lengths for lead tipped hollow points. In close BT Sniper makes an easy to use, very versatile set of dies. His Customer Service is TOP NOTCH! Thanks! Ben [/I]

I purchased the BT_Sniper one step swage die CH 40 S&W. I got it on Saturday. I started out making a few until I made a bullet I really liked, I then swaged 350 rounds in just a few hours. This gave me 390 swaged .40 cal bullets from 9mm brass. I'm out of 9mm Brass! Yesterday I went to my buddies and we shot 50 rounds each. I though my XDm .40 S&W 4.5 My buddy through a Glock 22 GEN4. Both these guns were purchased in the last month, about 300 rounds through each gun. The fifty rounds fired flawlessly very accurate. So my buddy gave me around 200 more rounds 9mm brass I prepared the brass and swaged another 200 rounds in a few hours. I have become so addicted to swaging bullets I started cutting down .223 brass that can no-longer be reloaded or has berdan primers. in order to keep the grains around 180 I cut them .550" I end up with a very cool 3/4 jacketed hollow point they load up great too. Because of this I now have another 200 rounds to swage. I will post pics once they are polished. Ben

An update for those of you with BTSniper "custom" dies on order other then the 40 cals. This includes those of you with .500 and .429 dies on order. For those of you with 40 cal dies on order I will be shipping in the next couple weeks. Those of you waiting on the 44s and 500s I will ship the core seat die, or XTP die for those of you that purchased one, a head of time and ship the point form die as soon as it is ready at no additonal shipping cost.

I have not been %100 happy with the initial results from my own custom reamers and the dies they are producing. If I'm not happy I know you all will not be happy so I intend to make you guys a perfect set of dies with professionally made reamers. I am placing the order this week for the necessary reamers. It took me a long time to find a custom reamer shop that is able to match my quality demands. I just found the one I have been looking for last month and have already received my first set of incredible 22 cal reamers from them. They have a quick turn around time and I am positive you will be pleased with the results. I apologize for the short delay but I would not be happy providing you with anything but the absolute best die I can offer. I am positive it will be well worth the short additional wait. I hope to have these 44 and 500 point form dies ready and in the mail by the end of March.

Thank you to all for your support.

    Good shooting and Swage On!

    BT

p.s. reamers I intend to order this week include

    .429
    .500 S&W
.400 with a nose ogive half way between mine and CH
.475 Yes I will have .475 set of dies to offer I promise!
    .458
.451 with a smaller .250 meplat and more rounded nose then that offered by CH

    future reamers to include

    .243
    .264
.308 with a low drag high ogive nose

and severial more as funds permit.

Should have pics of the new 22 cal bullets soon

Are you making dies were I can use 45acp brass and make .458 bullets with it? I have a 458 socom that I would like to swage for. I think I would like to make 300-350gr bullets. I love my dies were I can make .223 bullets out of 22lr brass. It would be nice to do the same on a larger scale.

It is late and I have been editing photos now for over an hour but here is a sneak peak at my finalized 22 cal 9s ogive design and bullets! These are 55 grains formed from 22LR brass in my custom dies. Matter of fact these very dies that made these bullets are at heat treat right now. I have severial more ready to be machined. I also have a 6s ogive nose profile to offer as well.

I got to say that I am very pleased with the results. This 22 cal project has taken me the better part of a year. I am proud that I took the time needed to ensure these will be the very best dies I am capible of producing. I think you will all like the results.

Enjoy the pics. I'll have more info later. Pretty late at the moment.

Here is a look at the difference between the 9s ogive on the left and the 6s on the right. Both the same weight worth of lead.

Here is a Sierra 60 grain varminter bullet on the left and the same bullet reformed in my 9s ogive point form die on right.

and a look at what some of the dies look like

Nice stuff, brian. I'm thinking the 6S would work better in a AR-15 and the 9S would work better in a bolt gun.

I'd want whatever work better in the AR-15

That is my thoughts too. I'll set you up with a 6s.

I'll start putting one together for you. I'll PM you with details ASAP.

Thought I would add one more pic. My camara does so well with the close up images you can see every little detail, even that which isn't as clearly seen by the naked eye.

Just to give you all an idea of just how small a .062 meplat is and how well these bullets actually came together given their small size, here is a pic with the two dummy rounds in my hand.

Here is another look at the 223s next to my 338 edge (338 RUM imp)

have you ever made or tried making a boattail for 308? corbin dies have such a ugly boattail. i have been thinking about getting into swaging and i would be much more incline to getting into swaging if i could make a boattail that was just like factory ammo.

Those I do believe are the rebated boat tail. From what I understand they are actually a better design.
"Consequently we move away from other shooters to remain focused on our passion, as our ideas are quickly dismissed or misunderstood by others. Sharing does not come easily for swagers, not because they are necessarily selfish, but because they have been whittling away in their only little world for so long, that being able to relate to others what they understand is no simple task."

The benefit comes from the gas deflection as the bullet exits the muzzle.
