brian nailed 430 for me on one of his early sets.
which works perfectly for many of the cast boolits i reshape and/or hollowpoint in my set.
and in the two lever rifles i wanted the 430 jaxketed rounds for.

I was thinking...... about a dual core bullet with a hard bottom core and pure soft lead tip.

    I made a .458 this way.

Seated a wheel weight core like this which could also be melted in place and bonded from posibly even a harder alloy

Then I placed a cast .356 120 grain pure lead slug in the formed cavity and formed the nose like this.

What I wound up with is a 335 grain .458 with a dual core good for initial expansion then a hard core to crush and continue penitration. If you look closly you can see the difference in the lead grains. The pure lead on top seems to have a lighter shade of grey then the bottom wheel wheight. A rough outline but compare to the picture above.

Don't stop imagining the possibilities! Anything is possibly when you make your own!

I have some of that tungsten powder too, but I will probably NEVER use any of it in making bullets in my dies. I would use caution! That stuff will scratch EVERYTHING and has a tendancy to get into and onto everything!

Tungsten as in "Tungsten Carbide"! Same stuff that my qustom carbide reamers are made of.

Yes it may be heavier but the cost of the stuff and the risk of ruining your dies just does NOT seem worth the minimal advantages. Even Barnes discontinued using the stuff.

    Hello BT,

I'm new to this forum & came across this post. Are the improved
C&H die sets in .224 & .40 still available and what is the current cost?
Also, do you have copper tube sizing dies in these calibers?

    Thanks for any info!

Yes I have several improved CH 40 cal dies ready to ship. See post # 163 of this thread for details. Cost of CH 40 cal die with case prep/sizing mandrel and universal die is $300 + $10 S&H

No Ch never offered a set of 22 cal dies. I do offer my custom set of 22 cal dies in a package deal. Intro cost of $800 for everything you need with free core mold and shipping! Check out this thread for details.
    http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=156386

Of course should you need additional info or help please feel free to ask. I will be happy to set you up with a great set of these dies.

    Good shooting and Swage On!

    What's new at BTSniper?

I am starting to aquire the necessary tools to make .243 and .264 dies! I also got the necessary tools to size down RCE .408 jackets to make 3-400+ grain 40 cal bullets for both my 40-308 and 400-300WM.

The .458, .475 and .500 reamers are working very well. Expect dies availble soon in these three calibers.

I got my RCE Sea Grit press all assembled and mounted to the table over the weekend. I added a custom ejector system to it for my dies to work with and I mounted it horizontal instead of vertical. More on that later with pics. Results look good but the cost of this press vs. a improved Lee Classic Cast is a tough call. I still plan to use my Improved Lee A LOT!

I placed a $900 order for 15 of the lee blank molds with handels to be given out free to my current 22 cal customers. Got the reamer on the way for boring the cavity. I expect I should start shipping 22 cal derim dies and these core molds around end of next month or early September.

Got three new reamers on order with my custom reamer shop, I should expect exellent results from a new .400, .429 and .451 set of dies. Next will be .243 and .264 along with a possible boat tail 22 cal possibility. The boat tail will be perfect if all works correctly. A half way between the Sierra boat tail on their Match King bullets and the longer Boat tail on the VLD Berger bullets. Testing has not yet begun on the boat tail option but blue prints are allready in the works.

and probably a lot more new and exciting projects I haven't mentioned as well as many customers orders I'm working on. Got a 4 die set going out soon to reduce 9mm brass to 30 cal. Got a .310 point form die with a .306 core swage die to make swaged lead gas check bullets for the 300AAC shooters. Also got a .312 copper tubing die nearly finished. The results and dies look AWESOME. Also got a couple 22 cal dies almost ready to ship to 2 customers that have been waiting a while. The delay was waiting for some precision ground internial pins I have made for the core seat die and core swage die. I expect I'll see these highly precise internial pins in teh next couple weeks I was told. The wait will be worth it. Everyone that has a current order will be recieving a free core mold.

Lots going on at BTSniper not to mention the girls are in swim lessons 4 days a week, summer camps, family vacations, upcoming antalope hunting trip, bow elk hunting trip, and rifle mule deer hunt (hopfully will be using my 40-308). Speaking of the 40-308 I am in teh process of aquiring the reamers to make the sizing and reloading dies!

Then there is my hobby guns........ not much time spent on them but I got three new Criterion barrels for my 1917 enfields that I will mount someday and learning about pull threw final chamber reamers.

Lots of work, lots of fun, lots going on.

I'll keep everyone posted and updated to my progress. Thank you all for your support and patience.

    Good shooting and Swage On!

I went threw this entire thread and cleaned up some of my nonessential posts. Most of them where simple progress updates about projects or roders that have been completed. In some cases it may seem I didn't respond to someone's question but that's not the case, just cleaned up the thread a bit by deleting some unimportant posts.

    Thanks

    Brian

p.s. I'll probably delete this post after a while too

    All I can say is...WOW!

I am going to have to figure out how to arrive at the cash to get some dies from you! I can see the calibers piling up now!

I have a Corbin S-Press, but need all the dies, because I cannot afford them from Corbin (I barely got the press bolted up the other day, and have had it for about 4 - 5 years). It will be nice to be able to use it!

    left to right

140 grain .264 Berger VLD, 170 grain .264 BTSniper, 260 grain .308 made from 5/16" copper tubing jacket, and a 220 grain Sierra Match King.

Anything is possible. I made the .264 bullet from a sized down 30 cal Sierra jacket and a plastic Ski plug at the nose.

    Good shooting

I got a de-rim die today, came in a Cool BT SNIPER die box.
Now if Brian ever caught up enough to start making core seat and point form die to fit a corbin press. I would be glad to send some money and wait for the package in the mail.

I just sent out a couple derim dies that where on order from a while back. I'm catching up I expect to start sending out derim dies to 22 cal package customers starting some time middle to late next month.

I still have a few back orders to fill as well. I got all the materials just need the time to put it all together.

As far as dies to fit Corbin's press....... maybe some day?????? Dave's 5/8-24 threads are not in the cards for me at the moment. I could probalby make a set to work in Richard's 7/8-14 threads though. When it comes to making 22 cal bullet though even the Corbin brothers have said it is potentially better using a smaller press. I got to say with my 22 cal dies in any decent reloading press the results are going to be very good. I'll see what I can do in the future.
