    Scope Repair

I have heard there's a company out in the Denver area I think that does scope repair . Anyone got their address or phone number ?

I have a Redfield 6400 20x I need to have reworked as it won't focus for me anylonger .

Since this scope was made in the 70's or 80's Leupold won't touch it otherwise I'd send it to them since they now own the Redfield name !

I have had one scope repaired by Ironsight. They did a good job but took almost 9 months to get my scope back.

Funny, I just got off the phone with Larry, from this scope repair service: http://lkscoperepair.webs.com/ and he mentioned someone in El Paso that was finding lots of old Weaver parts. I'd used Larry's site to contact him and he phoned me twice about my problem. Most informative fellow, I had no idea the old vintage scopes I have were nitrogen purged.

The guy in El Paso is named Frank Ruiz and he worked at the Weaver Factory.

He retired and the guy from Ironsight bought all of his inventory.

Talked to ABO and Ironsite this morning. Thanks for the websites as I was looking for them..

Ironsite wants $75 +$10S&H to completely service a scope. Separated lenses are replaced with either factory new or cannibalized parts.

    7 month lead time!

They have 850 repairs ahead of you. And 4 people working on them.

ABO was reluctant to take a lense separation repair due to lack of available parts (they don't have Frank Ruiz's old inventory)

Hope this info helps some of you with older scopes. If you have a newer scope the hot ticket is to send it back to the factory.

    Smile

W.R., thanks for the update on the lead time. I've got 2 old El Paso weavers I need repaired. A k-3 & k-4, gave $15 for both so a few bucks to get them up & running ain't to bad.

FWIW I received my Leupold 1.5-5-20mm vari-X III back from Leupold today. The scope had been dropped and the eye piece and ocular ring were both damaged. The scope still worked but I wanted it looked at and the damaged parts replaced. They took the scope completely apart, cleaned and repaired the damaged pieces. They returned it with a note that it is now "as new". I have to admit that I thought the price of $117 was a little high, but they did a supurb job. I was hoping to be able to report that they did it under warranty but no such luck.

$117 does not sound to bad. I believe Ironsight quoted my $75 + $10 shipping for a dis-assembly and cleaning with out any major parts.
