    Load Database

I went to the Castpics load database (pretty cool) and noticed there isn't a load for a 38 special cartridge, trail boss and the 148gr HBWC. I was looking for it in particular because the data on Hodgdon's web site seems to have an awfully low max charge. I assume it's because the WC is seated so deep that more than 2.3 gr of TB would result in a compressed charge. But that's a guess. I'm casting a 146gr H&G #50 WC and expect to use the Hodgdon 148gr HBWC data. Would somebody care to enlighten me as to why it's not listed in the castpics database and if I'm correct about the low max charge weight?

    Thanks,

    Jay

The Castpics database came from the various powder companies data. If they don't show a load with that combination, the CP database wont either.

I think you are right on the reason for the low charge. the wadcutter would use most of the room and reports are that TB gets spiky when compressed much so probably best to avoid that situation. It may also be that typical wadcutter data is limited to about 750-800fps anyway and they saw no reason to push that limit.

It is in their (Hodgdon's) online database. I thought perhaps it was intentionally left out of Castpics.

it probably was not in the database at the time I swept it. The TB data has kind of trickled in one cartridge and load at a time. At some point, I'm going to try and add new or updated to that list for exactly that reason.
