Accurate Data Powder 2200 and Penny's

In the late 90's, a guy at my local gun club made a big buy of Accurate Data Powder 2200. I bought an 8 pounder really cheap. There was very limited load data on the label, but no published data was available. I never used any, as I was using Varget and ReLoader 15 for highpower.
Now, Accurate has re-introduced it, and have quite a bit of data here:

    http://www.accuratepowder.com/wp-con.../04/DP2200.pdf

Now, they even have 30-30 and 45-70 Data. In the 45-70 data, the last column is for comments, and the comment in the 45-70 data is "Penny's." I can't find any reference that explains what the "Penny's" comment means. Does anyone know? Does anybody have any cast Boolit experience with Data Powder 2200?
    Thanks!
    Jeff

There is a lot of discussion about old vs new 2200 at 68forums.com . I have a supply of the old 2200, seem to recall the old is faster. I actually have a load data sheet for the old. I will try to remember to look at it when I get home after work.

I've been using data 2200 since it was first out. It is/was outstanding for 222R and 223R jacketed bullets of the lighter kinds (222/40 grainers and 223/40/50-53 grainers). This was the original surplus.

At the same time I started using 2200 for cast bullets in the 25-20 with a Lyman 257420, driving them to 1750 fps with 5/8" accuracy @50 and 1 1/4 accuracy @ 100 yards accuracy. I I have old posts on this also.

Now nearing the tail end of lots of the original, I plan on getting more of the new 2200 if the goobermint comes to its senses.

There is more new data on the new 2200 if you go to the Powder Valley site, hit links, then the Accurate or Ramshot link to call up the newest data. You can mail them too and they are pretty quick to reply.

BTW, Data 85 (use Ramshot Hunter data) is super on 7.5 Swiss, '06, 243, 250 and 22-250, 7-08, and 270 W short mag that I have tried.

Can anybody meet me in Lexington with two kegs of the old 2200 (or the new) and we can do business?

I've still got 16lbs of the old. Used up year ago last January 24 lbs on 223's. That was a LOT of 223's I loaded and put up! It took me 2 weeks of loading to use that much.
Bought it for $50/jug. Wish i could come across another big buy of it again.
I've still got another 10k of 223's I'm wanting to load up and use it.

I use it as a standard load for the 25-20 for PC Cowboy Silhouette. Either the Ranch Dog 83gr Gas Check or the NOE 80gr Gas Check with 12.5 grains AA-2200 (old stuff)
I checked lighter and heaver charges in my two 1892 Winchester rifles and that is the match load. I do not change the sights for the turkeys or rams. Actually, I can use the same sight setting all the way from chickens to rams by using a light load of H-2400 for the two short animals and then the AA-2200 load for the far animals.

I've used a bunch of DP2200 in 5.56 w 55 gr ball and some DP2200 and AA2200 in 6.8. There were apparently two lots of DP2200. One is faster than the other. The lot I have is similar to AA2200 and delivers similar results.

I decided to use the DP2200 in 5.56 and the AA2200 in 6.8 rather than rework loads (which I will do when the DP2200 is gone ... as I'm on my last jug).

Have not used either for cast ammo.

AA2200 is an excellent powder for 6.8 w projectiles from 95 gr 120 gr.

There was an old fellow in So. CA named Penny that was a fairly well known commercial caster up until the early 2000's. He has since passed away and left behind a very extensive collection of Idea and vintage Lyman molds.

accurate's web site has data powder downloads , yup including this one , pursuing thru the manuals and comparing it to the newer 2200 there are some slight differences , the variables leave me to suggest starting small and working safely up ( but that's in every reloading manual and book i've ever read and as always being prudent with things that can go boom is never a bad idea , i've used a bit of the dp2200 and for the 30 & 357 herrets as well as 375 jdj and 375 winchester it works pretty good , it does seem to tend to be a bit dirty until one hits the upper pressure spectrums

I have 2 jugs of this and have loaded some 223 and 22-250 with it. Now that I have a 6.5 Grendel, I plan on using the remainder for that.
