That is a really pretty stock, great piece of wood - and the parts of the inletting I could see
look perfect. On top of that waksupi has really put the curves to that stock. That takes a
particular artist's eye that I doubt i could even learn to do.

Well done, everyone. Waiting to see the final result.

I'm pretty sure this rifle deserves an elk hunt. Lacking that it deserves at least a few Pennsylvania deer hunts.

Picked up the metal on Monday, jeweled the bolt today, and I have word the stock should be back from the checkerer on Thursday. Time is getting short!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

The stock came back today, the checkering looks very nice. I will put some finish on it, and let it set up for a day. I notice a spot on the stock I will also put some more finish on, it looks a bit dull for some reason.
I would say off hand, that I will have everything back together on Saturday, assuming I am happy with the finish, and we can wrap this project up.

Ric, are you going to test fire it for her for a few months? Just to make sure the checkering doesn't come loose.

I hate it when that happens. Happens more often on those synthetic stocks though. With some of those cheap factory stocks with pressed checkering they just come flying off as one piece.

    Finished project

Ok, let's see what we have.

Thanks to Gene at Kilimanjaro Rifles for the use of his shop equipment. Also John Reese, at Custom Diamonds, in Polson Mt. for the checkering, and Timber Stevens, Big Sky Gunsmithing, Kalispell, Mt. for the bluing.

If anyone else has a project they would like done, contact me.

    Wow...wow...wow...that looks really fantastic.

In pic 7 I see what looks like an image on the side of the stock just above the floor plate.
A friend of mine thinks it looks like me.

Timber has my rifle right now. He does excellent work, and comes highly recommended. Congrats on a beautiful rifle Joni, and very nice work to you as well Ric.

    Very nice work!

I'll bet that it looks even more stunning in person ............ it's very obvious from the pictures that Ric has the "touch"!!

Joni Lynn will likely figure out an elk hunt or four with such a beautiful rifle ........... and we can all sit around the fringes and be "jealous"!

Congrats to all and thank you Ric and to Joni for allowing us to sit in on this project.
