    311910 mold ?

Reading an old NRA Reloading Information booklet, copyright 1953. They mention a mold 311910 as suitable for the Krag. I do not find this in my Lyman cast bullets handbook, so I'm asking if anybody here knows what that one looked like.

A misprint maybe? The latest Lyman moulds are only in the 600's. The 311410 is a 30 cal number that would work in the Krag if it fit. That's my guess as to what they meant.

I can't find any reference to that number either, and I have a Lyman/Ideal manual #39-1953. I think Bret's right, a missprint. The 311410 is a 130gr rn-pb that generally works in about any .30 for a cheap plinker, I use it in my M1 Carbine.

I'll bet that is a reference to a Modern-Bond mould. M-B used a numbering system that involved the bullet diameter followed by the bullet's length. Their design M-311 was a 154 grain Loverin design that was numbered 311910. There are pictures of the M-B moulds over on the castpics site:

I've never seen a 311910 either but apparently some makers used this designation....

I think the ebay listing is mistaken, that appears to be a modern bond mold rather than an H&G

That mould has been relisted as a Modern-Bond in an H&G handle! The seller must be reading this thread! (or somebody that is educated the seller as to what he has)

I'm resurrecting this old thread because I have one of these molds. It's been in my mold box for 25+ years packed in grease. I don't normally shoot small bore stuff, so never really looked at it. But I just picked up a nice 1903A3 and a M1917 rifle, both in 30-06. So I dug into my mold stash and pulled it out. I thought it was an old Ideal mold, but Googled it and here I am. I have the sprue plate, but not the attaching screw or handles. I'll have to see what I can come up with. After cleaning all the old grease out, it seems to be in great shape. I hope to put it back in service now.
