1.6cc 10B101 behind a Ranch Dog 165 in my 30-06 at around 1650 fps has been shooting like a champ recently. No filler, and none needed.

20gr behind a NOE 314175, their fatnosed version of the SAECO 315. 184gr checked and lubed. About chewed the middle out of an SR-1 target today. I can only guess the velocity at 1700-1800fps out of my full length Krag.

    What lot #s please?

What is the order of "relative speed" among the 3(?) different lot numbers.

Mine was, and will always be, 91A-009, unless Jeff stumbles upon some more.

Since there is still a serious lack of dedicated rifle powders out there at reasonable prices, I was thinking about creating a .30-30 hunting load with this powder. I know you don't need too much velocity out to 100 yards, but I want the bullet to have just about standard .30-30 punch just because.

What do you guys think about 18-20 grains of 10b101 (lot 91A-009) behind a ranch dog 165 grain GC bullet? My guess is that it would yield around 1800-2000 fps at the muzzle. I am kind of concerned about chamber pressure since the .30-30 is a lesser rifle than the .30-06 and the like. Any thoughts?

Start at 16 and work up from there. When the alloy blows back on the case neck, you know your max load is a step down. I don't imagine you have an alloy that will take more pressure than the rifle will. And, don't forget to clean the lead out if you shoot the rest of the rounds that are blowing the alloy. Otherwise, you won't be able to hit anything next time you shoot. Don't forget to report your results, we like knowing!

It may be even less than that. I am getting great accuracy from my 30-06 with 16gr. and the Ranch Dog 165. But like Madsenshooter says, your rifle will tell you what works.

Marlin 30-30 (1970s mfg) microgroove barrel. Mixed brand cases with Lee 155 2R sized .312 and gas checked. Starting load 14.0gr 10B101 (lot#91A-009) and 1/2 grain increments (all weighed) to 16.0gr. Five shots per increment and 14.0 was good but 16.0 had 3 into one elongated hole 11o'clock from POA and 2 into blackened POA. Could only test @ 25yds but shows good promise. Will test and chrony at 50/100 after making some more. NO pressure signs, nice extraction, and NOT any compression (cases will hold about 33+ gr. to casemouth).

    .40 S&W-- lot 009-91A
i used 10.0 grains 10b101 behind a 155 grain berrys plated bullet. Cycled and functioned 100% in my sig p229. Very little recoil. Keeps the brass nice and close. Steel plates were a little sluggish to fall, so definitely not a competition load. This is a nice low pressure round to shoot out of your 40. It does burn a little dirty but there weren't too many flakes in the barrel.

10.0 grains is my go to load for std loads with large cases. Works well in .357 magnum, .38 special and is my go-to load for .45 acp hardball and now .40.

    CCs to Grains

In case anyone is interested 1.6 CCs of 10B101 (Lot#91A-009) is equal to an average of 15.25 grains.

Low was 13 .8, there was only one in the 13s, the high was 16.1 and only 3 of 20 were in the range 16.0 - 16.1.

Outside of these extremes the rest were 14.6 to 15.8 grains.

With more careful manipulation of the Lee dipper I bet I could get more consistent results.

I push the dipper through the pile three times, tapping it on the edge of the container I have the powder in after the first and second. Seems to improve the consistency a bit.

1.3cc 10B101, Lot#91A-009, in the 30-30. 165 gr. Ranch Dog boolit, chronographed at 1665 fps. Great accuracy, bore stayed black with no leading, looks like a good load.

I got some H 320 powder from an old shooters estate. I'd like to use it to load 150 jacketed boat tail bullets in 30:06 cases to around 2600 FPS to use in a Garand match. Does anyone have load data for those specs?

I suggest you start a new thread with its own title, might catch more readers that have experience with the powder. It's one I've not even heard of.

Dang, Nobade looking at your last 30-30 info I might be able to get a good load for the 14" Contender for the close in shot where/how I hunt.

165 grain boolit at over 1650 fps should perform and the 14" Tender barrel oughta get that, now if that includes accuracy, I am set..

Gotta run some more RD's I am almost out.

Pot is full of ingots and the mold is lying there ready to go . . . best get that going this weekend when it is cooler out.

Yep, that stuff seems to work real well in the 30-30. I bet you could whack a whitetail with it, no prob.

Posted in another thread--but--30-30 seems to like around 15.0 with 160+ Lee 155 2R. Yes, I know it is a spitzer designed bullet but I was wanting to get a cast load that could excel out past 100yds/mtrs with a good BC. I shot it over the chronograph and got 1945 fps average (Lot # 91A-009). Gas checked, SPG lubed, and sized @.312. No problems with extraction, signs of pressure, etc. Complete burn and no residual flakes in bore. Note: I weighed every charge--this stuff can change the charge weight a lot due to its structure by a small volume change if throwing from a measure or using a dipper. Tedious work for reloading BUT it seems to be easy on the bore (does not heat up quickly) and seems pretty efficient and is not position sensitive. Still going to test at LR with pictures when I can. Makes me glad I bought it now.

30 Badger rifle, 22 inch barrel. 8.0gr. 10B101 under the Lee 155 Ed Harris boolit. 1400 fps, very accurate.

Same thing, but 8.0gr. 10B101 plus .5cc WC857 under the RCBS 30-150-CM plain base cowboy boolit. 1700 fps, outstanding accuracy.

8.0gr. also works very well in 38spl handguns with 158gr. boolits and my 357 mag Browning '92. (I use the RD 175 rifle boolit in that one, quite accurate.)
