ok so for any fence sitters, the lock is easily removed, and the hole is easily plugged. you can also just take the flag out. one can also grind down the little knob on the flag and disable it. Their are options available other than saying no these incredible revolvers.

I never use the lock either.

However, I have had the un-locked lock cause the gun to lock up on me. This is a symptom that has been reported over and over again.

S&W has an obligation to produce all of their guns with working locks. So, there's no getting around that.

I'm reluctant to remove the lock on my current .500 mag, unless the un-locked locking issue comes along again. Worried that S&W would void any warranty.

I selected my current .500 Mag, with rebated lug in 6 3/8" barrel for the same reason that JR went to 5". Better balance. The 4" is too short for me, and 8" is too long for me. And, the full lug versions were too nose heavy.

If I had the budget, I would certainly get a matched pair. They would probably end up as safe kings. (all of my guns have male personas).

I'll see what next months commission check holds, and if the buy is still open, I'll do the matched pair.

This is something I've wanted since it's inception. I wanted a 4"-5" non-comp satin SS .500 Magnum - John Ross' announcement some time back seemed ideal. Now - time for a deal - and what better way to spend my SS retirement deposit later this month? I'll check with my range's ffl holder about delivery. I have some backup cans of dog food, so food isn't an issue (I don't have a dog...) - and Ramen noodles...

Is this custom and exotic enough for you? Jim Badger's rosewood laminate.

Stainz, should I put you on the list? What finish?

I saw this gun when the first group came out 4 years ago and grabbed one of the brushed finish guns. The only issue I had was the front sight was too low for me, so I substituted a Bockman front sight (the same front sight I used on my Marlin Cowboy rifles). Works great. I got a 4” a couple of months before I heard about this one. I wouldn’t have done that if I had known about this configuration, but I like the 4” well enough that I won’t get rid of it, but I really like the 5”.

    John,

I am sorry I cannot take advantage of this buy at this time. I hope this is soon enough... I had no reply - and hadn't made '#10' yet. Thanks!

John is in Missouri so no, there would be no sales tax; only the transfer fee from your FFL.

In MA you will be charged sales tax because the MA FFL is the one selling the gun to you. Sucks, but no way around it.

    California Tax

It really depends on the FFL you use. I am from the SF bay area and all of the FFLs I have used around here charge you the sales tax on out of state guns(ie gunbroker). But I use a FFL up in norther California that does not charge sales tax. It's another one of those things California does to keep guns from coming into the state. Just like the California DOJ roster of handguns certified for sale, or the other one that makes the guy sending the gun check with the state to make sure the FFL you are using is current before they can ship it to California.

I need to be like triggerhappy and get out of this state.
