John,
USPS tracking says my check arrived your office building this afternoon. Did you receive the check?

I understand that we are the customer, but seriously, can we relax a little about constantly questioning JR about the status of our orders.
He is a one man shop, is not going to ship the gun till after the check clears his bank, and then he prints up documents to go with the gun which delays shipping more, and then ships USPS and not overnight. Relax.
I doubt that John wants to even check this thread anymore.
Now, having said that, I wish JR would have set expectations a little better. Expect delivery within one month of the check being cleared for example. Buyers have sent off a substantial amount of money and are understandably a little nervous.
They called yesterday and I'll pick it up today. Got a message the manuals are printed and I'll pick them up when they open at 9am. More guns going out today. And I'll inspect ALL of them to make sure there are no issues.
Just imagine what you'd be going through if I lived in Slovenia...
Here's a pic of a happy customer shooting a black gun with a 350 Hornady factory load. The gun has not started to recoil yet.
And here he is 25 milliseconds later...

Now I can't wait for the quintaweight design is produced, Step It Up NOE!!! I may have to get some of the other weight molds to see what this gun can do with the longnose boolit.

I went to pickup my JR500 from the FFL today and I must say I am very pleased. There is hardly a drag line on the cylinder and the gun is super clean. The fast twist is very obvious when you look down the barrel. Here is a photo of it with it's new friends. Thanks John for a very pleasant transaction. Warren
Yahoo! Picked it up this AM, It's perfect. I'll be taking it to the range on Friday.
I wish S&W would have offered a 5" instead of the 4" gun, I'll know more about the Compensator's utility after I shoot it, My other 500 has one and I agree that the compensated guns are attention getters because of the blast.
Whoever else is waiting for thier revolver, It is worth the wait!
Thanks John
Taking a break from packing guns for a few minutes, as the phone keeps ringing.
Those of you that have short-shank molds from Mountain Molds, I'd be interested in your results with various powders, esp. Trail Boss. It's been a while since I got a chance to chronograph anything, and I mostly use non-canister powders I bought years ago at 25-70 cents a pound. There is a claim that TB burns hot and I'm interested in leading issues, esp. when you fill the available space using a short-shank bullet.
We ought to get some interesting data once the quintaweight molds are in a bunch of people's hands.
Everybody like pictures, and here's a fake magazine cover I made up a while ago. My best friend Tammy Chapman and I showed up at the S&W booth at the NRA show to hawk my guns, and S&W's PR gal asked Tammy to put on a long coat or something, citing that S&W was now publicly owned and anything resembling advertising had to be cleared by management. This was after every damn male employee there had had his picture taken with her...
We didn't have an overcoat with us, so we went down and hung out with my buddy Steve Hornady, who owns the company and doesn't have to deal with corporate types. He told Tammy she could stay at his booth as long as she wanted...
THIS COVER IS NOT A REAL NRA PUBLICATION, AND IS INTENDED FOR AMUSEMENT PURPOSES ONLY!

um........wow ? !
Looks like Tammy has experience with big guns, is she available to teach proper use of the 5" 500 ?
NRA must be full of fuddy - duddys !!
That is one pretty lady - she belongs anywhere she wants to be !
Love that story about the NRA convention. Sent you a pm John.

John, The base is a home made aluminum one. I made it just long enough for the bushnell red dot. it is plenty strong because I mainly shoot it with my trail boss loads at our indoor range. It has been very accurate. Warren
"It was S&W's PR department that told us to leave the S&W booth, right after I had bought over $600,000 worth of guns from them. (The engineers and reps loved her) "
Ah, my bad. I was a little distracted and didn't read correctly.
FFl and check going out today !!!!!! (I'll try not to bug you too much.)
Hi John,
I don't seem to be able to send a PM to ask, are you set up for a fax of FFL and a call for credit card number ?
Thanks
John,
I have been loading a TON of .500 S&W Magnums using Trail Boss powder for a while now.
Like you, I size all my .500's to .500". I run my alloy as 50-50 with a few ounces of lino tossed in to sweeten the pot. Air dropped.
I use my own blend of lube. Have fired virtually every bullet configuration, from every mold that has come through castboolits using Trail Boss.
In one test, I let my gun go, UNCLEANED, for over 1,000 rounds with no sign of leading using Trail Boss. The outside of the gun was waxy smoky from all the shooting, but not a shred of lead in the bore.
My lube:
• Duke’s Maine Lube
o 2 pounds pure bees wax (gotta smell like honey or it’s not the real deal)
o ¼ pound anhydrous lanolin (thick solid, sticky)
o Two heaping tablespoons stearic aid (makes the lube harder)
o Four tablespoons carnauba wax flakes (makes the lube more slippery)
o A few ounces of Militec-1 gun lube
o A few ounces of Klotz synthetic 2-cycle oil (or equivalent, must be synthetic)
o One tablespoon of Johnson’s Paste Wax
Place materials in a microwave safe container. 8-9 minutes on high should melt it all. Stir to blend everything together. Add candle dye to suit, or wax crayons for color. I pour this directly into the lubricizer reservoir, and allow to cool before using.

Do you shoot the 700gr with trails boss?
Care to share any load data?
I loaded up some of the Mihec 440gr Keith PB HP's today, just messing around. I loaded up 5 with 8gr of Trail Boss and 5 with 9gr. I went out to the dump, nothing scientific yet and blasted every can I aimed at. I set up a piece of firewood and backed up about 20yrds and shot a hole in the center. I took another shot and thought I missed and took another. HMMM. I walked up and they all cloverleafed in the same hole. Although not a blockbustin load by no means. With these rosewood grips they felt like a smooth lotion runnin over the palm of my hands. Nothing at all like the hot flinch makers those GC 440 gr Keiths I shot at first. All this without even adjusting the sights.

John,
Hope I'm not beating a dead horse or missed the answer somewhere in the thread...did you ever get the payment by credit card issue settled?
