Yeah. Single stage presses of any type are about as complicated as a pencil sharpener. ??
    Completely off topic, sort of.

My wife came home from a yard sale with her very own hand cranked pencil sharpener! She was very proud. (On the bottom it said, "Zebco")

Seeing as they go for a bit more $$$ new these days and finding one used is kind of hit or miss... is there anyway one of you that has one could either take some good color pics or a short video of one in operation? I understand the tool is fairly simple to operate; I'd just feel better having a chance to 'see it in action' before purchasing, if possible.

    Thanks,

Fred Huntington still sells his iteration for a less than $200, I believe. I haven't checked in the past six months.

    HDS Hand Press

I bought one when I was Stationed in Germany back in 1985. Still have it and use it during the winter months to size and decap my brass for CAS. I still use it to reload BP rounds for CAS when I don't have many to reload.

    Look familure?

It appears to me you put your standard die in the trolly and it moves down to do the operation, then back up for you to R&R the casings.

    At 3 1/2" X 9" I bet it's as cute as a bugs ear.
If you can't figure it out, send it to me and I'll send you a nice feather.
Then we would both be tickled.

Not to pop her bubble, but we have one in the garage that is about a gazzion years old.
Your post made me curious... It's a Boston Ranger 55.
Glad you mentioned it, ours was about full of pencil shavins. (Yep, still used for wooden pencils for the kids.) (GRAND kids, that is.)

Did the OP ever get a good copy of the instructions? I was at the Salem (VA) Gun Show today and found a faded box with what looked like a brand new Compac press with all the spare parts and a crispy clean set of instructions. I really wasn't in the market, but when I got it for $75, I figured I really did need it.

Its tentative assignment will be to go with me to N-SSA skirmishes and reload Maynard rounds between events. Since it uses a standard shell holder and dies, I can simply add parts I already got set up for my old Lee. The Huntington may not do it any better, but it will do it with class! It's all you guys fault that I bought this thing, you know!

    HDS compac press isntruction sheet

we have had a number of requests recently over at the ARTCA forum for instruction sheets for the HDS compact Press. This thread always comes up when people do a web search. I thought I would put up the pdf scan of the instruction sheet I have with my HDS compact

Just to add it to this thread - the current available iteration of the Decker (improved) is Randy Buchannon's Bucannon Hand Press. Search that and you will find much information. It is a worthy follow on to the Decker and Randy gives full credit to the Decker. I have both.
