I got the molds and powder from an older gentleman.
Those are not Lyman handles...

They most certainly would. He sold his S&W Russians and old colts years ago.
He was also loading up .455 webley in balloon head cases at max plus 3 grains.
and his .45 colt was max plus 2 grains.

Yes, those mould handles show some real creativity. That can of powder on the right has to be from the 30's.

Ideal 454485, the mold blocks are on pins - the plier jaws are ground down and drilled. I can put any blocks I want on these handles, unless of course you want them - custom mold handles for single cavity...

And yes I am pulling the bullets and checking to see if the brass is balloon head or modern.
I have no interest in loosing my fingers or eyesight.
He was feeding those loads to a TC Contender and a 1917 S&W third model in .455 Webley.
The S&W is still tight and timed - it is certainly well built.

I think the CIL cans are from the 50's or 60's. We had a few similar to that in the 70's in our shop.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who made mould handles! The Rifleman used to little blurbs on doing just that type of thing. Nice finds!

Nice find, the nut on the pliers makes you want to go buy a bunch of 8 point sockets and go back in time 60 years.....or not. Anyone else have any info on the Black Sporting Powder? I like that can.

Seriously this fellow is early 80s and is slowly winding down his shooting activities.
He has a private range less than 100 feet from his back door. I'm considering mining the berm for the lead and copper scrap.

The other thing is an old nose pour (with hollow base plug) .36 caliber brass mold. These molds were first available in 1851 for the then new Colt revolver.
In operation the base plug was inserted, the lead poured through the nose, the sprue cut, the base plug removed and the bullet would drop out of the bottom of the mold with a light tap of the mold handle on a block of wood.

I made a similar mold for a 30-30 and a 44 pistol in the early 1960s when I was a teen ager.

Be a little more specific on the "equipment" - is the powder something like ******???
Or are you referring to casting and reloading?

How about if I start a Lottery and sell tickets for a truck load of all my guns and reloading stuff. It would be delivered to the winner after I kick off.
Sorta like I would have a Life Estate in my junk. I have thousands of dollars worth of gear and guns. Probably take a stout one ton truck to haul it off.
Would something like a raffle be legal? Doable?
This would enable me to enjoy my stuff and have money too. Whats to not like?
Maybe someone could start a website to facilitate us old timers in doing this.
Just charge a small handling fee to be paid out of the ticket sales.
An old guy in his sixties could sell five thousand tickets for a dollar each.
A guy in his seventies could sell 1500 tickets for five dollars each.
A guy in his eighties could charge the full ten dollars each for a thousand tickets.
Probably is gambling? Is this not what insurance companies do?

I have always enjoyed pawing through stuff left by old guys that didn't have a plan.
