Well, sometimes it seems I'm the last guy to get the word. Just picked up a new set of 458 Win Mag dies from RCBS. Measured the expander plug and found out it is a two step expander ending up with a flair step. It is essentially a Lyman "M" die. No more having to buy seperate "M" dies to load cast bullets! Who new?

All of the RCBS dies that I own for straight wall cases have a flair on the expander. Not all of them have a pronounced step though.

Well, it is an excellant design and Redding copied it for handgun dies, guess it was just a matter of time 'til RCBS did too.
