You might look into using .44 Spl cases in a Marlin. Just as strong, but 1/8 inch shorter.

Have a good friend who is using them in a Marlin Cowboy set up. No difficulties to report on feeding issues.

We loaded some up darn close to top end loads in the Penta point configuration. He is in Texas and using them on feral hogs. No bullets recovered as of yet but a lot of destructive power.

I've taken about 10 feral hogs with 'em. They do the trick! Head shots are devastating. I'm shooting them out of a Casull using 45 LC brass over 20g WW296. I haven't had anything get away yet.

Bob B are you using the penta point hp's or as a solid?

If either of you recover a boolit, please post a pic of it.
I would really like to see that.

Somehow though, I don't think you will be recovering any...

With regards to gun control in this country, everyone should be asking themselves one question:
What is it that this government feels they need to do, but can't do, unless the citizens of this nation are first disarmed?
(I seriously doubt you can come up with any plausible answers that you will like...)

Unless the hollow point version is used, I'd bet on complete passthrough, even if it's hit stem to stern. MAYBE, the hollow pointed boolit could be recovered.

Load update: Warmed these loads up with a little H110. Worked up to 23.0 grains and cci large pistol magnum primers, and got 1305 fps (7 1/2" blackhawk0 with a VERY tight extreme spread of 10 fps (1298 to 1308fps) This was with 10 shots...5 shots from the hollow pointed version the other 5 with the solid version. Very accurate too.

In regards to the recovered bullets, I've never had one that I could locate. Usually the exit would looks like a small nuclear device went off there. I'll snap a photo of one when I go hunting next week.

I have the solid pb version of this boolit.
Any suggestions on starting loads with IMR 4227?

This will be used in a 4 5/8 Blackhawk.
    It don't take all kinds...we just got'em.

Going to the range hopefully this week.
Picked up a 1894 MARLIN in 45 Colt.
Going to run some loads over the screens using HS6/2400 and H110.

    We shall see!!!

Hey Garcia, Let me know how those H110 loads work for you. I'm looking to warm up these for my Casull. I'm currently running 20g, but from the looks of it, they could stand some more...

These are LC, but shooting them in a Model 83 Casull, due to OAL issues. Typically shoot a Saeco #454 in the Casull brass.

I've had real good success pig hunting with this Mihec bullet from the same gun using LC brass. Currently loading the HPGC version over 20g WW296/H110. Shoots well, but the brass falls out of cylinder w/no signs of any pressure in my gun.
