    Frosty Barrel

    I have a 30-40 Krag Springfield that I bought at the gun show in Monroeville, Pa many years ago. It is my sweetheart rifle. I only take it hunting on good weather days. It shoots well with jacketed boolits but I have never tried it with cast boolits. The barrel is a little frosty and I was wondering how a cast boolits reacts with the frosty barrel.

    probably clean it up.
    i just got a 1918 and i can see the rifling cleaning up as i shoot it.
    the shine just keeps on pushing down the bbl, a couple hundred rounds should have it.

    It's amaz'n what Hoppes, a stainless steel brush and some elbow lube will do for a frosty barrel....

    Don't use a stainless brush on a barrel you care anything about, it will scratch the heck
    out of it.

    All my stainless brushes are long gone. I only use a plastic brush in my AR with the good stainless match barrel. My new Win High Wall has a barrel that is so smoooth, I'm gonna hate to use a bronze in it, although it shouldn't bother the finish any... enjoy Mike
