Has anyone tried this griddle instead of a single burner hotplate? It is rated at 1500 watts.
I was thinking it would give a little more room to warm ingots and preheat molds.

I ended up buying a single burner hot plate from Tru-Value hardware after not being able to buy a replacement from WallyWorld. The griddle would work as a warmer but in my case would take up to much room on my work bench as I tend to lay everything on it and I can't seem to ever put anything away 'cause I might need it later.

If you have a Harbor Freight close by go there now and look for the hot plate they are discontinuing!
If you get lucky they are $5.17! Bought one Friday afternoon 3-4-2011.
This is an open coil unit and works great as a pre heater HP HB pin heater.
On the "open Coil" units, take a piece of metal like an old "Skil" saw blade or a steel pie plate bottom to gove a smooth flat surface for the molds to sit on during warm up

I just bought and used the HF hot-plate this weekend. Worked perfect and I have to say that pre-heating the mold made a HUGE difference in the quality of my bullets. Normally, I had to throw quite a few bullets before I'd start getting decent bullets dropping. Now with the hot-plate, the pre-heated mold drops perfect bullets right from the start.

I have been using an electric griddle, might even be the one in your example, and it works really good. It works great for pre-heating a mould, and heats plenty of 5 lb ingots up to around 400 degrees, which is hot enough to turn to liquid in short order while still being cool enough to grab with my welder's gloves. If you can't find a good hot plate, its definitely the next best thing.
The Harbor Freight near me is out of the hot plates, I'm surprised that not more people use a griddle for the increased surface area it provides.

I put a garage sale cast iron 8" skillet on my hot plate for pre-heating my moulds. Best two bucks I've spent.
