    ammohead,

Mine is a mod 46 made in 1929, 9.3 X 57 mm. I noticed in your article that you can seat the bullet out past the lube groove. I can't chamber mine with the bullet out past the front band. I'm going to reduce the front band diameter and seat the bullet out and see what happens to accuracy. Looks like I'll be forced to shoot more ammo. One thing I haven't figured out is why this rifle shoots high with light loads and everything else I have shoots low. I'll post the results.

A friend of mine tested some 9.3X74R loads with the boolit from 75 meters.
Case was RWS and primer CCI-250 and the powder VV:s N310
He used the earplug as filler in top of the powder charge..

9 grains of N310.. vertical dispersion and oval bullet holes..

10 grains.. still a bit oval bh:s but.. the velocity was pritty consistent.. inside 3.5 m/s

    11 grains.. 310 m/s

Then couple of tests with N120..

    18 grains and 346 m/s

21 grs N120 and 392 m/s.. And yes.. There is 5 shots in it..

First test so I bet he could improve it considerable..

i got around to shooting my 9.3x57 today with the GB boolit. 15-25mph winds so not ideal conditions. 39gr I4895 got me just under an inch, 41gr got me just over an inch, all at 50 yards. i'll have to wait for better weather before testing further.

I have the same rifle, just as it left the factory. I looked for years before I found one that wasn't messed with. Just cast some bullets with my NOE mold and as soon as I machine a bullet sizing die, off to the range I will go.

    Ruger No.1 9.3x74 results.

So far have only tried IMR4895. Will try Varget next, but i don't think i'll do much better. Bullets were water dropped and tested out to 27BHN with Lee hardness tester. Want to try air cooled and see if they still shoot as well. Would like to use the softest bullet I can get away with to hunt with. Penetration should be no problem.
I haven't chronoed these but 40 grains gave me 1700 so i'm guessing 1850 or so.
Will check next sunny day. Chronographed the load and 45 gr. with filler gave 1980 fps. 48gr.Varget clocked 2140.
Really like the 9.3x74 in the Ruger No.1 . Recoil with full power jacketed loads isn't too bad offhand and these cast loads are sweet to shoot.

Well I haven't checked on here lately and today I find my mould has ben ready to post since January.

    Man I'm slack. Doah.

As soon as it gets here I'll try some in my FN Mauser '98 in 9.3x62.

Tried a few with IMR4064 in my M96 9.3x62, I was pressed for time So I didn't do any load development.

Suffice to say, there was no leading at all with the gas-checked pure wheel-weight bullet at ~2100 FPS. I used Lyman Ideal as the lube.

As soon as I get a couple hours to rub together, I'll post some paper results.

Which powders have you tried out with this boolit so far?

Just IMR 4064 for now, Settled on a 48.2 grain charge. I'm getting around 2050 FPS (backed it off some from the first load).

Why fix what ain't broke though, when I'm getting 3" groups at 100 with mild pressures?

Attention 9.3 owners! Back in late May at the NCBS I won the aggregate score standing offhand contest. The prize was a Pat Marlin's checkmaker set-up donated by Pat. I requested that Pat make me a set for the NOE .368 280 group buy that we all love so well. Just the other day I sent off 5 sample boolits for Pat to use to design the 9.3 checkmaker. I would suspect that in not too long said checkmaker will be available from Pat as a stock item. He has been very busy filling other orders so it might be awhile. Thought you might want to know.

Finally made some up and tested them in my 9.3x62 Mauser '98.

Best so far at 50 yards is 51 grains 2206H (H-4895) with one wool wad into 0.480". Still to chrono and test at 100 yards. I got a bit of stick on AR about useing a wool wad as a filler. It gets consumed before the boolitt leaves the muzzle. Can't see the issue myself. Lube is SPG.

    The Mould. Beautifully made.

    Hey ammohead,

Any word yet on the checkmaker? I'd certainly be interested in one of them.

Anybody else been shooting these boolits lately?

    Gandydancer,

Might try contacting NOE directly if you can find contact info. Other option is do a search here for "SwedeNelson" as he usually ramrods the noe mold buys. This one is long over but I have no idea if they kept the cherry used to cut these out or not. Might just be a matter of placing an order.

gandydancer, I looked at his inventory list, he's currently out of stock with that mould.

The only way to currently get one is to be involved in a group buy for one.

Fortunately, you'll only need 5 to get this buy going. Unfortunately, production date is May of next year. He's a bit busy.
