How big can I go? Rebore

Thinking about having a 1" round TC bored out smooth. Currently 54 cal can I get it it to 62 cal/20gauge?

I'm planning on calling Bob Hoyt next week and just having him go as big as possible. Just curious.

I had Hoyt take a 1” octagon 56 smooth bore out to .61 rifled barrel
That barrel fits one of my TC Renegades.
Bobby Hoyt can give you the information you need to know for your type of barrel

Might be just right if you got 61 on an octagon.
    Thanks

I also have a .75 cal smoothbore flintlock Blunderbuss / Musketoon that the barrel is 1” wide at the narrowest point near the muzzle of the barrel .
The breech area of the barrel is 1 1/8” octagon.
But more than half of the barrel is round starting from 1.15” down to that 1” just before that Cannon barrel style flair at the muzzle.
I take it you are going to use your rifle as a shotgun ?
Two years ago. , I Quail hunted with my Blunderbus.
I got 7 quail on opening day using #6 birdshot over fiber wads.

Shotgun/round ball gun just for fun. I don't have a smooth bore black powder and I'm not committed to a fancy fowler yet. I really only use my actual shotguns for slugs and buckshot now.

I went to the .61 bore diameter on that Renegade because , I had a .600 dia round ball mold.
The rifled barrel shoots better at 100 yards then the original .56 SB did.
I intended on using that .61 cal for Elk hunting but never got drawn in the past 5 years .

Oh I don't doubt it. I have a couple duplicates but have guns in 45, 50, 54, and 58 right now. No smooth bore though. My 45 is a smokeless gun and I killed an antelope, a mule deer, and an elk with it last year. Have killed several antelope with the 50, my 54s and 58s have been used killing deer in several states by myself and a couple of my buddies. I haven't taken a sidelock on an elk hunt yet one of my buddies took one of my 54s to Colorado last year after elk but didn't get a shot.
