    .280 h&r

Anybody tried shooting cast in the 26" barrel H&R single shots?
The cartridge case volume is a bit excessive but wondered if it wouldn't work well with the long barrel.

With a load your rifle likes it should work well. I have shot cast bullets from barrels as long and 36 inches and length does not seam to have any affect other than more velocity for a given load. As for case volume with proper powder selection and if required some filler to hold the powder in place you should have no difficulty. I load cast in 30-06 cases all the time with great results and the 280 case is almost identicle in volume.
