In the end you need to try a lube to know if it works in the application you want it for. Every gun/bullet/load/lube combo is a singular entity. No one right answer for all situations.
Go make a lube, try it, and let us know how it worked. This is how most of the people here learned.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for helping a new guy learn but at some point you need to go do rather than just asking. Only experience can really answer many questions. We all do things differently because we have gravitated towards what works for us.
Darr lube can work well, but not exactly as you describe. Once the first batch has the lube poured on, it needs to be in the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes to warm it all up and make sure it gets all the way into the grooves.
The next 2 steps may need time adjustments; I let it sit on the counter for 10 min, the lube has set up, but is soft and still warm. Then stick it in the fridge for 10 min and take it out. Pop the bullets out from the top and reuse the lube cake.
It helps to have the lube deep enough, almost to the crimp groove.
That might help.
ok so update time, lol
I will be ordering some white label but I casted some of the new bullets up tonight and being impatient I tried some home made lube, tomorrow i will try it in the gun, hmmm do you think a couple bullets will be enough to show leading signs?
ok heres the mix,
1lb pariffin
13oz vasoline
4oz alox
3 heaping tbsp johnsons paste wax
1/4 bar shreded ivory soap
I will need to strain it,
results so far; i did a couple bullets and pushed them out.....perfect!! as I type I have 50 boolits in the pan cooling soon as it hardens ill push em out and repost the new results but I am excited so far..
I found a formula simular to this but not exact so if it works good can i name it after me..ha ha.. Meckna #1 lol catchy.. I know im going to get 5 replies of people using the same thing..lol
ok update, in the grooves on my lee 310gr 44mag, lee 124gr 9mm, and 45 devastator, looks great!!! the small lube grooves on my 308=not so great, dont know why but it just didnt wanna stick on them 308s but the rest look beautiful!!! I will size, load and shoot a few tomorrow

This Thread Is Worthless Without Pictures?
o. um I dont know how to upload em, but i will figure it out and do so later tonight.. yeah that is a good point people would have a better understanding of what im talking about if i put up pictures
Show 'em off! A lubed cast boolit is a beautiful thing!
50% BAC + 50% Carnuba Red = a nice firm lube that stays in place. I doubt that you can buy componets to make your own any cheaper.

bac? whats that stand for?
http://www.lsstuff.com/lube/
BAC is beeswax, alox, carnuba. That's what it stands for. Carnuba Red is more beeswax and Carnuba, a hard lube. The stuff is only $2 a stick.
I use Carnuba Red for high velocity rifle and pistol rounds, good lube, great people.

im going to try to post some pics hope it works...
i seated some deeper than than others, its 310gr, loaded from 10gr-10.8gr bluedot, i also loaded some 240gr xtp with 14.7gr bluedot
the second pic shows top row boolits i buffed with tissue, bottom row untouched, and the lonely boolit to the left is 1 of only 3 out of 188 boolits that didnt have a good lube ring fill.. also posted a couple un lubed ones....
and theres a couple pics of the revovler that will be shooting them..
also a pic of the 240gr xtp's i loaded in the safariland speedloaders
heres a pic of the cake, the top looks evenly colored, but the bottom has dark areas I assume from the alox settleing?
this is for you CiDirkona, what ya think..lol..seriously though if it wasnt for you i never woulda learned how to post pics, so I am grateful, chime in guys and tell me what you think...
now for the proof in the pudding type test ...ie; go shoot them ! wow not only did he learn how to post foto's he done it in spades ( i know one day i'll have to get another online foto album but i oughta get a decent cam first :P ) i have the same mold , in fact it's the boolit i most often grab to pan test my lube brew ( cuz my fat fingers can grab it :P ) i usually run gas checks on mine , helps cut back on having to wipe the loob outta the bottom groove , nice foto's amigo !
