    Outside the box.

I just found a box of Hornady swaged 200gr..452 SWC I had from before I started casting my own boolits. I know they are pretty soft, so I popped on some of Sagebrushes' PB gas checks and run them through the sizing die. They slipped through like butter and crimped on beautifully while hardly touching the lead shank of the bullet on the way through. Now I can push them a little harder. Does anyone else do anything like that? Out of the norm?

That is a good idea, I am going to borrow it. I have never used PB gas checks.

I had some 30 year old cast plain base cast bullets that I installed aluminum roof flashing gas checks on, the bullets were also .452 SWC for the 45 ACP.

I found these bullets way back on a shelf and had forgotten about have them for a long long time.

I purchased a lot of cast lead with regularly lube I put the home made gas checks on to make sure lead would not get into the barrel.

I did not push them any faster than regular lubed lead bullets.

A powder coated bullet with a gas check can be pushed into jacketed velocities.
