Anyone tried loading Miníes in .45 Colt ctg?

Lee's .454-298 Improved Miníe mold looks like an interesting .45 Colt boolit, in a perverse kind of way. Also the .45 R.E.A.L. solid base (looks like it would hold a *lot* of grease) but I don't know if that one is fat enough. I'm talking about with smokeless powder, at least for the 298 grain boolit.

I use a LEE REAL in .44 cal. in my .44 magnum Handi Rifle.....works great !
That Lee 44 cal REAL mould was the first .44 cal mould I bought, it was cheap, so I made a push thru size die at work, but I made it .430", I size em in my Rock Chucker, not real easy to size, that front band on the bullet is bigger than the rest of the body so you have to push it pretty hard. These shoot pretty accurate for plinking, I would'nt hesitate to hunt Deer with em at close range.
Weight is right at 240 grains.
Once sized there isn't very much lube grooves left, I lube em with Tamerack 50/50, I don't have any leading, increase the size with the .432" sizer should add a little more lube groove...
    Good luck ! "PJ"

I have never done it, but hear of many people having success with it. I have been seeing
.360, 44, and 45 calibers. alittle extra money and i am going to try a 44.
I came into this world kicking, screaming, and covered in someone elses blood. I plan to go out the same way.

I shoot a 300g LEE HB Minie over minimum loading that shoot very well. The HB does increase pressure but its basicly a 300g wadcutter.

I have also loaded it backwards for a massive HP. I shot it into media and posted here someplace. But the main slug was still in the 200g range and I found 3-4 pedals that went different dirrections creating a massive wound area.

I have previously used the Lee 454 Minnie in 45Colt with black powder. The only problem was the reduced powder charge available as that boolit takes up a lot of room. The TC 454 Maxie shoots better with BP and holds more lube, but still reduced room for da boom. So, I designed the PRS boolit and that took care of that.
