A bit of poking around tonite on the matter of GOEX, future of; 1 each.
We found out early this year that Estes Energetics acquired GOEX, and not much since. Or more precisely, I haven't seen...
Forum: Case Forming / Re-forming
I'm anticipating my 40-65, so when upped the brass count for the 45-70 I got 'extra'.
So, the question is, "How far back to take the anneal on the brass to be formed into the 40-65?"
Also, does...

Today i would prefer to have some. Well, that's wrong. I have brass for a fair number of calibers. However, this last weekend I spotted the .45-70 version of the rifle I had on order in .40-65. ...

Winner!!! :)
I'm assuming that rifle is long since bought and sighted in?

Kev,
There are a few variables floating in your question, or the answers.
1) .40-82 has several incarnations. The .40-82 WCF is the most likely.
2) The rifle used to fire it puts...

9-1/2 OD (?), assuming 9" ID for calculations, 6" depth for a simple cylinder, lead weight of .409 per cubic inch.
9" dia, Area 63.6 sq. in., times 6" depth gives a volume of 381.7 cu. in.
At...

Ha!! On the way home it was late.. really late. About all I could do was look at the exit sign go by and give it a little wave and a grin. I'll be by there at least once before I ever get a...

Time for a little update I guess.
Seems I was innocently minding my own business trundling down the road to South Dakota to a gun dog breed club meeting one fine morning earlier this month. As it...
Lost,
First up, as Bikerbeans suggested, check the chamber lengths first up. Not sure about your 'intended', but Euro makes will often stamp chamber lengths on the bottom of the barrel lugs, 70...
Try a search for "Wichita, Ks micrometer calibration", there might be more in OK somewhere, but Wichita got a good number of hit. I hear what you say about the B&S for feel.

GF,
If you find it, buy enough! Some Bertram showing up on some shelves, https://www.buffaloarms.com/405-winchester-cases-formed-bertram-box-of-20-ber405win. Might drop a note on Starline too....

Doggunner, it's all relative. :) I recall seeing for sale ads in the back of aviation magazines from the late 60's and early 70's where for a mere $2000 to $2500 you could have your very own P51......

I almost added brass availability from Starline as I had gotten some few hundreds of brass from them for mine a bit ago. However, when I went over to their site for a link I could no longer find it...
Same.. .. kinda. The .22s have the benefit of using a heeled bullet so the chamber diameter is 'same' (for values of same) as the projectile. Piddly detail thingy though. :)

This may be a silly little question, or opening a can of worms. But, we talk much about keeping a barrel straight, slugging bores and chambers to gain understanding of dimensions, alignments of...

While 25.4 is indeed accurate, using .03937" per mm results in an error of .0000787 inches at one meter. Kinda tough to measure methinks. :)
I think there's a sticky in one of the forums here on WC brass, made for an interesting read.
Now to find it again...
Okay! Someone write it down that I actually FOUND something!! :) ...

Thanks for the thoughts. Truly. But 'it's about the actions'. :)
Trust me, the collective record is rife with discussions of caliber / cartridge. The .45-70 is a quite logical and...

I will give myself the credit of not asking a group of willing enablers to talk me off the ledge regarding a jump into BP, Sharps (et al). A few decades, maybe a bit more than just a few, ago, the...
