Good to hear, it sounds like the Hi Tek coating is a nice innovation for a few extra bucks a case. I just worry about extra barrel wear as well, event though most of us don't shoot enough for that...
New data. I changed the press over to 44 magnum again, so I made up a new batch of 200 gr rnfp with Unique (0.430, I bought the slugs but haven't slugged the bore yet. Still on my list to get to)...
I did some more experimenting with loads. Today I shot some Trail Boss 7.6gr 180 gr rnfp loads with both .430 and .431 sized bullets out of 44 Magnum cases. There really wasn't any accuracy...
I didn't slug yet, it's on my list of things to do.
Another question: I made up some more loads with 6.5gr of Trail Boss, and some 7.5gr of Unique (I have worked these up before for my revolver)
...
I made up a batch of 44 Specials, (since I have a 629 with the nicest trigger I've ever shot) and I figured I would try them in the Marlin, since I haven't shot it in quite a while, and had sort of...
I've been happy with a 125 LRN bullet and Bullseye 3.5gr load. They cycle the action fine, the cases fall at your feet, and it is accurate. Smelly and sooty, but hey that's Bullseye!
I don't remember (and can't seem to find) what OAL I used, and I recently picked up this project again.
So I made up batches of 25 with OAL of 1.255, 1.260, 1.265, and 1.275 (and remembered to...
Somehow I skipped over the page in the Lyman 49th manual which lists a 375 gr lead bullet. So any of those loads would be safe with a 330 grain lead bullet, right?
They list the Unique load that...
I loaded the 330 gr lead boolits up to 17.5 gr of Unique. They ran about 1350 from my 10.5" barrel. They shot well, felt like a 44 mag 240gr load.
Any ideas on using the same boolit with 2400...
I see a variety of lead bullets available from casters, 330 and 350 gr without a gas check. I have Unique, Trail Boss, as well as Power Pistol, 2400, and 300MP. I see that Alliant lists data for a...
So should I try stepping these loads up a bit? Lyman gave a max of 6.0gr Bullseye, but I saw other data posted saying 5.4 was max? Still, maybe a little more would help? I have seen many other...
The part past the little internal ring inside the chamber, so it is the throat.
This gun has had problems from the beginning, as it's been back to S&W three times for problems, new cylinder, still...
The bullets are sized .452 Additionally, this gun has a new cylinder fresh from the factory, since for some weird reason the cases were sticking terribly after a few cylinders. At least that...
I have been shooting 200 gr lswc Dardas cast bullets in front of 4.8 gr Bullseye, and for some odd reason they have leaded up the chambers of my 625. Even with the Brownells steel chamber brushes...
A lot of the recommended loads are very light for target work, between 3.5 to 4.0, yet Lyman 49th lists 4.9 to start, up to 6.0 (running 900 fps) which was their recommended load for accuracy.
Has...

I use a Hornady LNL AP and the Powderfunnel PTX, since I couldn't get the Hornady ones to work properly. I was reading about the Lyman m die expander, and I was wondering if anyone here has the...
Here are my results with Unique and the 180 gr in 44 Special, Dardas RNFP sized to 0.430. These are 20 shot groups, and the number to the right of the average is the avg of the highest 3 shots.
...
I shot them and measured them over the new infrared CED M2:
These were in WCC Match 98 cases once fired, Federal LP primer, and Bullseye powder. These are all 20 shot groups, and the number next...
I finally ordered the bullets, so I'll be changing the press over soon to make up the loads. I will try out that Bullseye load, maybe start 6.1 and make 0.1 gr increments going to 6.5 or so. I'll...
I checked out the latest Hornady load book, and for their swaged 180 flat point, they list Unique 5.5 (700) - 8.0 (950) out of a Charter Arms 3" barrel. So it looks like your recommendation of 7.0...
Any favorite loads for this bullet? I have Bullseye, Power Pistol, Unique, and 2400 on hand, as well as a little Trail Boss I got to experiment with.
I am trying to utilize lighter (cheaper)...
Actually, the lower charges were more accurate than the faster ones. Which is odd, since my 158 swc loads seem to do better at 14.5 of 2400. And the same bullet is most accurate out of 38 special...
Thanks for the info. I will definitely read that other thread. I will have to try some lighter Unique or even Bullseye loads to get the velocity down.
The bullets were hardcast bhn 16 bevel base...
I shot some of my loads yesterday, and the accuracy was pitiful. Maybe I'm just so used to aperture sights that I'm clueless with the buckhorns? I don't know, but it looked like shotgun pellets at...
